Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Look closely at those pictures, yes, those are the concrete footings coming out of the ground, frost is a powerful thing.
New deck is 20 feet by 24 feet, is plumb, and dead nuts level. It is sitting on 11 footings that are 50 to 52 inches below grade. Deck is not attached to the house, it is completely free standing. Skirting is made from all of the off-cut 5/4x6 deck boards.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Next it was on to the side walkway entrance to the back yard. The first picture was taken after I had removed the flag stones, but you get the picture. Again what PO (read moron) did was to essentially sprinkle crushed stone on the earth, and place the flag stones.... Oh, yeah, that is going to look good for about a season... maybe two...
I removed all of the flag stone, and dug down between 3-1/2" to 5". Then spread landscape fabric, and filled with what the stone guy called beach stone (pretty good sized stones, average 1" diameter). Then placed the cleaned up flag stones, and added some solar lights. I am quite pleased with the results, and... yes, myself!

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Wow, nice work on the deck and walkway! Nice details on both jobs. So that's where you've been hiding... in the back yard.
After concentrating on my C10 for quite a few months, I have quite a bit of "home"work that needs my attention. I'll have to take a break to do a few jobs on the honey-do list. As goes the saying...happy wife, happy life!

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Just read your build. I just love how these things snowball from, I'm just doing a bit, to total rebuild. Great job it will be sweet when your done. You mentioned you make and sell custom hoses for a living. Do you make power steering hoses?I'm using a hydra boost and will need some hoses.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Cab lifter also doubles as a drywall lifter! Moved it out for some fresh air while I get some boards up.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Thanks guys, good to be back on it, hope to get things moving forward soon...
I tagged onto a post about cab mount bushings, thought it would be good to add onto an existing post, doesn't look like many have noticed the thread pop up again, could some of my... followers review and post their advice on the following thread? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=632118

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Thanks rustbucket, yours is one of my favorite builds on the forum....
Wouldn't you know that something is always going to come up and keep me from working on the truck... I have a leak in my basement, tore off the drywall, etc. to find a crack that needs to be addressed. Fixing the crack is the small part of the job, putting it all back together with new flooring, lighting, etc. will unfortunately keep me busy for a while. I do expect to have a productive spring/summer/fall on the truck though
