Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
'55-'59 GMC DASH / INSTRUMENT PANEL INSERTS.
I hope this helps. Sometimes being a GMC owner you feel like the red headed step child. You always seem to run across an item Chevy truck suppliers can't help you with, like GMC emblems, Horn buttons grills, hoods, tail gates, bumper breast/nipples, hub caps, complete dash board, radiator support frame, brackets, and what-nots. I didn't like my GMC dash/gauge panel coz when I took it to the chrome shop years ago they never straightened it out. I looked all over the net and couldn't find the original ones. There are new billet ones out there but they are one piece. Fortunately I went to this guy that has done chrome work for me in the pass and he had a guy that fixed mine and my chrome guy rechromed and it looks brand spanking new. If you want to check out the one piece go here. If you have an old one that is beyond help maybe you can use it as a template and have a machine shop plasma cut a new one or water jet or laser/ whatever. Boese Engineering http://stores.ebay.com/Boese-Enginee...=p4634.c0.m322 The first picture is how my insert looked and the pictures after that is how it looks now. I will post the pictures of some dash inserts I saw at Brothers Truck Show.

Here are two dash inserts from Boese Engineering
http://stores.ebay.com/Boese-Enginee...=p4634.c0.m322 AND ....here are some GMC Dash and instruments at Brothers Truck Show. Note one of the trucks has a one piece dash panel insert.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Very nice, you'd think by now the GMC stuff would be of interest to the suppliers, they've had the Chevy stuff for a long time. Some of the of brand auto parts are getting attention, Caddillac, Buick, etc. The trucks would be easier, less change.
Anyways, like the new dash good find.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Thanks Kim I think so too. When I saw the aftermarket dash inserts I thought, "close but no cigar" It is so hard to find the two piece dash inserts. I'm just glad they were salvageable & look new.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
I want to make this very clear ... I aint seen a truck on here I didn't like. There is some awesome stuff on here lots of talent ( home built and pro shop)but after coming back on here I found a ryde that really blew me away. I think I made it clear before how much I like chevyrestoguy's truck. Can't wait for him to finish that thing it is wicked
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=247512 Then I saw Heisenberg gray goose.... AAWWHHHHH MAN THAT THING IS OFF THE CHAIN. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=527352 I got goose pimples looking at that truck. They even did something that I am already working on... can't say what it is yet. Any way I hope I did not offend anyone. There are so many kool rydes on here It's tough to have a favorite. The top photo bare metal is chevyrestoguy's / bottom is the Heisenberg ryde.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Been busy with family and life so the projects have to take a back seat to everything else. I am making progress but real slow. Can't do too much to the El Camino until I finish the '56 and now I am not certain when that will be completed. But thanks to all you folks on here especially kabwe Kim, Brad, Hot Rod 1 & chevyrestoguy, you have been an inspiration to me.
My youngest is now a U.S. Marine. I'm real proud of him. I will post some pics before and after. Lets see I think he joined because we had too many rules at our house...... . He's doing fine. There have been lots of challenges, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Bottom photo is some of the slow progress I'm making on the truck.

Inspiration to you huh? Yeah right, that's not what you say in person. What are you trying to do? You can't fool these guys into thinking you are a nice guy.
Anyway post more pics, you can tell these guys you have not been working on the truck, but I know different.lol |

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Working on getting a lower stance, C-notching the frame and rear suspension mods. There is a lot more pictures to post, only post a few for now and lots more work to be done. some of the pictures are just mock up only and everything comes back out. Last thing to be done is to finish boxing the bed portion of the frame.
