Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
More bark than bite
Shouldn't be a prob...I don't make it a habit to speed around...anymore, at least. Can't really tell in the pics, but we made some 1 1/2" lowering blocks and brought the rear down a bit...it had quite the stink bug thing going on! Seems alot more obvious driving it and seeing it in person...we like it alot better. Also dropped a 2 lb residual in the rear brake circuit...CPP says there's no need, but it tightened up the pedal and reduced some pad chatter we had going on.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
My son decided we needed a bit more oomph for the burb and brought in a NOS Supershot kit for Father's Day.
Well, he SAID it was for Father's Day...but I think he was just using that as an handy excuse to have something to play with!! Works for me! Got the bottle mounted and plate plumbed in, but still need to wire it up and run the the N2O line...my boy will work on that this weekend. Will fill the bottle next week and start playing around with it...start off with a 100 shot and see if we need to push the 150-175 its capable of.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Still haven't finished tubbing the rear, well...haven't really even started that yet. And, yes, running in the rain sucks! We're running the hell out of it...hundreds of miles all around here, only been caught in a downpour once...seriously, there was more water coming down inside the burb than out!! Wife was with me too , she was a trooper though and had a blast. She did say that I really need to get the tubs done though...
Couple posing pics around the house...

Those rear tires must move a lot of water in the rain.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Put the burb up on the lift to check things out. Had to replace the collector gaskets, put some "dead soft" AL. ones in...those should seal/last better.
Had a little seepage around the tail shaft housing, tightened that up a bit...also took measurements for a one-piece driveshaft to replace the weaker two-piece. Other than that, everything looked alright...couple thousand miles since getting it on the road now. Pic of the 1 1/2" spacer we made a couple months ago to drop it a bit...

Thanks Scott! What's the scoop on the ride in your avatar? Looks nice...
Some is, some isn't I was thinking I need to do some wiping down under there Edit: on the burb that is...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Worked on the underside rear fenders a bit...cleaned them up, shot some primer on the bare metal, and undercoated them.
Looking at burb from this angle sure makes the frame look ratty!

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We've had near perfect weather around here for the last couple days...mid 80's, 5-10 mph breeze, really nice for mid-August!
Got the yard work done early, so the wife and I took the burb for a cruise down to the lake to let the dog swim and catch a sunset.

Fenders look good...& don't feel bad, my frame looks ratty too! At least yours matches the character of your exterior. Like you, I kinda have a mix-match of clean stuff & areas that could use attention. Hopefully I'll get around to it one day.
Great sunset pics!

Thanks Phillip, I hear ya on the mix and match...it's just that the ratty parts sure look worse next to the clean stuff!!

that's what undercoating is for. Nice sunset x2. Should stop and look at one more often, thanks.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Lots of new stuff for you guys! House with shop space upgrades to the Burb, evening cruises to the lake. Sounds like a bit of Heaven going on.
What's the plan for the back seat? With the tubs widened the stock seat no longer fits correct? How about individual buckets or maybe 2007 and up Tahoe 3rd seats. Good thing you own that, if I did it would have become a 4x4! |

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Yea, it was relaxing...
Quote:
Stock seats are long gone. I'll eventually have some suspension benches made to match the front buckets...long and short or maybe just a long that could fit behind or in-front of the tubs. For the time being, our lab likes it without anything in his way! Oh trust me, we seriously considered making it a 4X...almost everything we have is! I'm really enjoying it as a road toy though...we're having a blast with it!
