Mine's a beater but mostly original. I'm customizing it with a 61 hood and a 61 c-60 grill. My plans are to drop it and give it a two-tone black and white paint scheme.

I like the 60 series grill plans, Greaser.
Let me know if you need anything in particular.... Mine sure wouldn't be rollin' without your help.

Hey 62shortstep, did you get the plates made for your 62? If so were you able to get the year stampted in the upper right corner.

Re: Post Your 60-63 Body Style Chevy/GMC Trucks
I found out in short order that the 1960-63 Chevy trucks are the bastard children from Chevy. I almost gave up and bought a newer truck and stay in the mainstream but these trucks are too cool to give up, just wish I could get new doors too!!

Re: Post Your 60-63 Body Style Chevy/GMC Trucks
Yes it's a Gaylord hard cover. I ran it for about 10 years when the truck was my daily driver. It made for a fantastic industrial sized trunk and was great for vacation travel or hauling materials during the winter. When I retired I decided to return to an open bed with side rails, so its currently taking up space on my garage wall.
Here's a picture of it on the Gaylord site taken many years after the above picture: http://www.gaylordslids.com/showroom...hevy/11001.php Last edited by markeb01; 04-22-2011 at 03:47 PM. |

I have family in Seattle and Vancouver, WA. Have to come by and see your truck when I come to visit them some day. I have had job offers towards that way. It's pretty up there!

Re: Post Your 60-63 Body Style Chevy/GMC Trucks
I posted early in the thread....but figured I'd throw in a couple of recent shots....
I had these wagon-wheel 16" rims on my '63.....and I always have hated the look of them. So I spent too much time on figuring out how to fix up a set of hub-caps....to kinda' cover them up. I think I really like them. So did some other dick-head. He took a crow bar to them..within the first week, thinkin' he'd steel them and maybe put them on his rig. Because I had to get creative on mounting them (including drillin', tapping and using a 7/16 center bolt on the rear) he couldn't get 'em off.....just scratched them up a bit. To put it briefly, He doesn't have them....I do. They sure would have been easy to spot on any rig.....even from a distance.....with the white paint where the black used to be. BTW..... 63GMCGuy... You sure gotta know I love that truck of yours.

Re: Post Your 60-63 Body Style Chevy/GMC Trucks
Here's my 63 sb stepper. My Dad's Aunt and her husband bought it new in 63. It lived it's life in the Sand Hills of Nebraska until about 84 when it came to Omaha when his Aunt move to assisted living. It doesn't look like this right now as it is in many parts, but hopefully before I go to assisted living it will hit the road again.
