Varies by schools, wether or not they have a shop, much less be able to dump students to other shops

Re: Senior Project Build
No problemo
In the mean time, call up a local chevy dealership and ask to talk to their parts department manager, or service manager if they fail. Don't describe that your selling parts, but say your rebuilding a motor and would like to price the parts. Should help give you an idea of what factory parts are. |

Re: Senior Project Build
Ok thanks, good plan. I will call tomorrow and see what i find out. Better yet, I will take my moms Denali in for an oil change and sit there and talk to the guys at the counter, see if they will print out a list for me. I will post what I find. Thanks for the inspiration

Re: Senior Project Build
Yep LKQ rocks. I will be calling them soon to source a starter and alternator and whatever pulleys I need. Anyone know how to create a front drive setup that just has an alternator, water, and steering pump?

Re: Senior Project Build
Lucky...As much as ive read over your build I think im on board for the carbed ls series motor myself..Ive been reading up on it and its so much more simple then I ever knew..We actually used to build the stock intake setup at boush for ls2-ls7 and it s what always made me second guess messing with these newer ls series..but now that ive sone the research on it all Im in complete aw at how much sence it makes...the hp/torque specs are extreme and I really like the idea of just pluging up the msd 6L and hitting the road....So in on board myself and im suscribed

Re: Senior Project Build
Got the motor out of the *gasp* ford and into the garage.
And started pulling things apart.... Dirty! I found out that the stock intake mani weighs 20 lbs. and the new GMPP aluminum one weighs 10. Throw a big Holley on there and it should be closer to 20-25 Now come the craigslist ads to sell all the stuff I won't use.... if you are interested in any of the stuff I have for sale just LMK Truck ex. mani.- $70 Truck intake- $80 317 Alum. heads- $150 Just to name a few |

Re: Senior Project Build
What color are you gonna paint it? Cat yellow or Cummins red would be sweet!

Paint the motor? Planning on a clean silver/aluminum and black engine bay.

Re: Senior Project Build
No, everyone has a red (Chevy orange) motor or a black motor. All silver painted is much less seen.
