Looks good. Like how subtle the hump looks on the floor. Nice work.

Re: [PROJECT] Laidout53 Part II

I got the transmission hump finished today. Yesterday I cut the floor out under the seat area to give the transmission room if i ever need to remove it. Just need to drill the holes for the bolts and install the threaded clips.

heres the pictures

Floor clearanced

Trans hump done

And in place

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, after cutting it out I started with the english wheel to get the curve, next I bent the flange, and put the bead rolls in the larger section, next i cut the upper section and bent it tell it match up, flanged it and rolled it. from the back of the shifter hole all the way around the flage i had to cut out and tapper down to get it to work, which required adding two triangle peices. sound sort of easy but took about 8-10hrs just in the hump.

Re: [PROJECT] Laidout53 Part II

Well Ive been working on the truck alittle over the last couple weekends so heres an update.

First i finished the floors by remaking the front of the seat pan area.

Then I bought a set of front fenders, and started fixing the rust. The back edge full of rust and the mount was gone so i cut that part out and used the old fender to patch it, also the front corner was gone so i made a new one. I also removed the rivets that hold the mount to the fender.

And all welded and smoothed( both are done, just no picture of the other one up close)

Next i got some G78-15 tires and wheels on it to make sure it sat low on there proper height tires and throw a fender out back to see what it will look like with the rear fender lip modification done.

Next i modified the shift lever so i can bolt on a customs shifter when i make it, then i built one out of wood to see if it works and look good. Heres what ive come up with, there will be speed hole in it and it will be chrome when done.

what do you guys think?

Justin

Re: [PROJECT] Laidout53 Part II

Great work and LOVE the rear fender idea.....I always like symmetrical fenders.

Shifter should turn out nicely also!

Re: [PROJECT] Laidout53 Part II

Read your whole thread. I'm a big fan. Love those hubcaps, hope you keep them. The tranny hump is a thing of Beauty. Do you own your own bead roller? Lowering that front windshield was genius. I kept staring at it, still not sure how you fixed it, but you did. Anyway, I will look forward to more. Now I'm off to check out your other build.
