Thanks Guys. Pretty serious with the wife so good thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Was able to grab a little shop time today and welded in the widened wheel tubs....should have gone this route the first time.

Like Skymangs posted....shop time is therapeutic!

Started tucking the '56 away until spring....though it was nice enough here today to go for a cruise.

I hope that all is going well for the wife.

I have not done much on mine the past few days either.
I'm older n the cold does get to me sooner.
The stove is a help,but the tall roof on the shop just hurts the heat.
Going to try to work on the front end-radiator n fender tomorrow.

Again hope the wife is feeling better.

Appreciate that 99! The big yellow picker is a farm made very large cherry picker my Dad and Uncle made way back when for working on heavy farm and construction equipment.

Thank you Ratty! I agree this is a better direction...just took a lot of work to get here...LOL. Good luck with the 66 you are looking at / having shipped in.

Just a little more shop time yesterday to install the cross braces between the wheel tubs. These are the 2 inch wide by 1 inch deep I have the local fabrication shop bend up out of 16 gauge. You can see a section of the channel sitting at the back of the floor. Then I boxed them in with 16 gauge to make a pretty strong support.

Made a paper template for the section of floor between the tubs. After I install that section of floor will set the body back on the frame to determine clearance for the differential center section when the truck is aired out.

Can almost see the finish line for this floor install...man, it has been months....time increased with my unexplainable goofy move with the truck tubs....guess I want a 67 to 72 again.

Grabbed a little more shop time and decided to move to the vertical gap on the transition from the front to the rear floor section. Gap is here because the original rear floor was Douglas Fir plywood and it was placed under the edge flanges in the rear. The new floor is of course on top of the flanges.

The center of the floor bowed down just a bit so I brought it up flat with a bottle jack underneath.

Didn't grab any pictures of the pieces I used to fill this. Basically it was two pieces of 16 gauge bent into 90 along the length...L.... Placed one on top of the floor with the edge pointing down and the other underneath with the edge pointing up and plug welded it all together.

Thanks again to Youngrodder who clued me in on removing the driver seat riser. The rear flange was spot welded in place and the plywood was on top of the flange, hiding the spot welds. So with Youngrodders advice I was able to remove the seat riser without damaging it.

It is in really good shape so all we did was clean it and paint the inside. Just doing a test fitting and thinking this might be a good position for the PCM. Will plug weld the riser in later once I have the wiring and PCM mounting sorted out.

And it is more comfortable laying on a flat floor working under the dash anyways.

Before I weld in the last floor section I threw the body back on the frame to check clearance around the rear. Even though I measured and marked multiple times, I was concerned the cross supports might be too close.

They fit fine and there is 2 inches of clearance above the top bag mount so should be good for the plumbing.

Differential just peeks above the floor a couple inches with the frame on the bump stops so a small cover will work.

Adding the 3 1/2" to the wheel tub provides plenty of tire clearance.
