checking the barret jackson site...it's still a few vehicles away....but everything's been selling for 100K plus recently so it's a good sign for him that there's money in the room...

Crap! No online bidders or phone bidders because it's after hours? That not right.

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell

Thats a nice chunk of change but no where near what the truck is worth imo.. For that money I think I would have sat on it for awhile but if I understand correct that i was a no reserve auction..

Barret Jackson is a rip off to builders! you never see a car or truck go for the amount of hours and craftsmanship that goes in the vehicles, i am sadden by the fact that we all poor our blood sweat an tears into a project and for some one to come along and tell you its worth that has never even stepped foot in a garage!Unless your name is Foose you will never get back what you have in it at Barret Jackson! Sorry for your loss!

I don't think Barret Jackson is a rip off because everyone knows before they go what the terms of the auction are. Seems like Superfly went in eyes wide open so I think he knew this was a possibility.

It's rare that anyone gets back what they have in any car. These trucks are ALL BAD INVESTMENTS but they look killer when done as nice as this one from Superfly. Good luck with your wife's build!

Your right about not getting back dollar for dollar on investment. Not sure they are a bad investment though. If you buy a new truck they depreciate pretty quick too. It really depends on how far you go with one of these builds. this one was way over the top

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell

I'd agree that a high dollar build like this isn't something to look at as an investment. But he got great recognition for his creativity and craftsmanship. However, they can be an investment. I have made several thousand buying/selling parts and should be able to at least double the money I have in my blazer when I sell it.

i disagree, spend the time superfly put in to this truck and tell me its a fair price! you cant buy half the parts on the truck! its a one off! he did not get what was deserved, your right about him knowing the consequences but it still does not make it right, in my opinion he got ripped

Sorry I should have been more clear. I'm not saying it sold for a "fair price" considering the work he's done. I'm saying if you go to a no reserve auction you get what the bidders are willing to pay for those 5 minutes your car is on the block.

We all know there's no way you could get this truck for this price any where other than like this. I mean think if Superfly would have posted a classified on here for $42k. He wouldn't be done clicked submit before one of us was at his door with a cashiers check.

Fair price for a vehicle has nothing to do with the time or money that was put into it. If you build a super hot 93 tempo for $20,000, you will not ever get that out of it. You will rarely get the cost to build out of anything that is not a hemi, or late 60's pony car, or some rare vintage car where only 6 were produced. Even a large number of the pony cars that sell bring less than the build cost. Just go to any car show and ask anyone selling their car. Most of the time they have more into it than the price asked.

The reason why people build a car or truck is because it's what they want to do. It's something they want to have and to show others. If they sell it, they KNOW it will likely be at a loss.

wow i want to join that board the 84 to 94 ford tempo owners ! wait a sec!!! i checked, there is one, my opinion is Barret Jackson is a rip off! MY OPINION! i didn't question return investment or why we build them , i simply vented my frustrations of the source of which you take your investment and get a bad return.

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell

Hay you win some and you loss some. I feel I was ****ed by Barrett Jackson. I was supposed to be on speed and prime time. That is what I paid 1200 dollars for but they ran behind. I have emails from John Cook stating this but oh well. I should have walked then. But my wife and I are over it. It was a blood bath there and many people got screwed. I did well compared to most. Well thanks for all your guys support. Check out my other build. I am going to get it finished fast so I have another car done
