Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Thanks Rus, I'll get some new remans.

I finally got my gaskets in today but joy turns to anger as they are mangled. They came ups and the box was mis shapened as were the gaskets. I contacted the seller So Cal of Las Vegas to see what they'll do. They were already late on shipping them to me, now this. We'll see what happens. Funny I ordered the gaskets, then bought the covers, The covers beat the gaskets ,gaskets arrive and they still can't go on the truck. Bummed.

I'm gonna wait n see what they are willing to do first.

I took the truck for a test ride and I still feel like the pedal isn't right. I ordered two new calipers today. I also bought a vacuum bleeder.

Sassy rode with me and laid by my side and never made a sound. She used to whine and cry every time. I think she's getting old. She's getting to where thunder doesn't bother her either.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

I got some new calipers and got them on. It stops better but I think a proportioning valve would help it a little more. I went to 3 parts houses and they can't get it. I may have to get one from CPP. I'm going to change the grille and bumper soon.

Yea, they don't sell them at parts stores because they rarely go bad.

Good deal on the gaskets! Do you think bleeding the breaks more will help?

Don't know. I had Loretta pump it a few after I had gravity bled it. Probably wouldn't hurt to do it again.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

I had a few things I wanted to do today on Tonto.
1. remove the rubber gasket on the tranny and do rtv only. It still leaks with the new pan and new rubber gasket.
2. replace the power steering and alternator belts
3. remove grille and bumper
4. sand and paint the grill that Rus gave me. I did some work to it. Knocked out some dents etc.

I started by draining the tranny fluid. While that was draining I started replacing the belts. And hit a snag. The stationary power steering bracket had a piece broken off. When I loosened the nut that piece fell to the floor. So had to remove it, clean it, weld it, paint it,re-install it. Then install the belts. After all that I removed the front bumper. I had to cut the bolt heads. I then got the grill off. Ran out of time to clean and put the pan on. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

When I read out next to the tranny "still leaks" I was like CRAP even after rtv but then I realized you were referring to it leaking now with the new rubber seal. lol

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Tonto got a face transplant. I sanded another grille down and sprayed it with some cheap chrome paint. I still have to paint the black around the headlights and install the bezels then it'll be bumper time.

I also put the tranny pan on and used just the rtv sealant. We'll see.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Thanks. It didn't turn out too bad. Theres still some small dents but I got most out.
I hope the rtv works. I'm tired of dealing with it.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Well I planned to work on Tonto today but we had a little high water issue at the in-laws last night and went back down there today to do some yard clean up and that took most of the day.

I still don't have my replacement gaskets and I messaged the seller.
I'll get back on it this week.
