Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Finished tacking up the pass side. Got the wheel arch and quarter panel in. I cut out the hole for the aux fuel tank. This is pretty much the last of the rust repair finally. My tailgate has a few spots that need rust repair but thats it.

I got the rest of my spray in bedliner kit, seam sealer and self etching primer to finish up the inside of the box.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Thanks foamypirate and trout thats great, i hope yours goes easier than mine did. I did a little work on the fuel door area for the rh box side. The one i got was from a lh box so the little indented area would be upside down when put on the rh side. So i cut it out and re welded it in, just needs a little metal smoothing and then in the box it will go.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Worked all day but didnt feel like i got much done. Finished up the fuel door, welded it into the box, jacked up the box and finished welding all the new panels, sealed the seams and sprayed some rubber under coating. My angle grinder broke so i ran to town and got a new one and some supplies. I sprayed some paint on the inside of the doors and started stripping all the paint off the box, hopefully i will get the rh side in bondo tomorrow. I also got the hood stripping started and installed the drip rails.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

I think my wheel well is a little off, i checked the measurement and it looks pretty close, took another pic and i think it looks a little better. I am planning on getting some replacement trim to cover up the seams and should help it look a little better.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

A little more done today. I cleaned up and painted the dr side hinges, sanded down the rest of the rh box side, and put the first coat of bondo on it. I also installed the clearance lights and put the lh fender on.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Went to pull a part today, score. I got a bunch of small odds and ends that i needed, including a set of orange marker lights, power window pigtail, fender to rad support bracket, rad shroud clips, and 4x4 shift cover. I half to go back i forgot to get a fuel door. Also picked up a set of new tires. Good shoping today.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Got some time in today. I had the new tires mounted and balanced and installed them, found the plastic nuts on my center caps are too short to grab, i will half to order some longer ones. I also got the pas fender/inner fender on, made and installed the rear leaf spring keepers, adjusted the column shifter, installed the battery box, overflow tank, and a bunch of other small things. I also welded up the trim holes in the box, i will finish stripping that down and get more body work done tomorrow. The tires are 285/75r16.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

I also found the issue with my high beam indicator being on on high and low is because the 77 and 87 models the plugs at the bulbs are wired differently, i pulld the wires out and reinstalled them in the old truck configuration, now indicator is only on with high beams.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

I got the rest of the box, the hood, and the lower valance panel stripped. I put some more filler on the box and primed the lower valance. I also started sealing the box seams up. It takes a long time to strip off all that paint. I should have the box body work done tomorrow.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

You are right about that zebb, lol. Today i installed my windshield gasket, only took an hour of staring at it to realize it is the right one, it has a channel with its on locking system and it really confused me for a bit. I also installed the dash pad, sanded and did more filler on the box sides and hood, painted the front of the box and lower valance, ordered a windshied that will be here on monday. I cant wait to finish this body work.

Re: Rusty, crushy, but trysty.

Thanks greelee, started sanding the box, broke down and got an inline sander, much better those bed sides would of taken a week by hand. Also found the solution for my centercaps, i found longer plastic caps that actually catch the lug nuts.
