Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
it was square tubing that has 4 runs left to right, the wheel tubs where cut down and welded on top. The wood rests on top of the 4 1" square tubing.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
So I left at 9am to drive to farrrrrr end of the state and returned at 9pm that same day! I was beyond exhausted but it was well worth it. Here is what I scored.
BBW inner section, perfectly straight tailgate, oem glass, SWB front panel. Rust free, dent, ding free bed sides from a 1966. Why are there no holes but its painted for custom trim? Was custom trim ever adhered on? Will these cross sills work, or should I get new repo ones? I feel that should be fine to hold the wood bed down. my boy is getting bigger! |

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
So after many measurements I just wont be able to drive with 15x8 up front. I would not have the ability to turn and a low height. So I ordered my last 2 wheels 15x7 with the same tires. you can't really tell that the its narrower with the style of wheel its a 1/2" less lip but and least I can ride slammed.
The whole crew. Another video, nothing too special, just action of it with the new wheels and tires on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVVUtu1o0vQ Last edited by baggedbigblock; 05-17-2013 at 07:43 PM. |

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
Your truck reminds me of one of those tuxedo t-shirts, "it says I wanna be formal but I like to party" ...and yes that IS a compliment.
All those rides are killer. I've always really liked those Infinitys.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
Haha, Creep. I love the comment. That's a good description. I wanted the truck to be classy but bad as fvck! I am really digging the outcome, and once its painted SEM hot rod black I am going to be in love!
I have plans to put a full wood bed kit in with strips and stain the same color I did the $30 deck wood that is in it now. The cool part is I am going to hinge the wood strips infront and behind the wheel tub. That way I can lift up and access the battery, the accuair, the fuel cell, and I think I will put a cooler in the final compartment! |

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
And......The Driveshaft is done!!!! Finally!!!! Funny thing is my flexplate is shot on a new 0 mile motor. The damn universal starter stripped the teeth. So out the tranny goes and in goes a super duper titanium flex plate and a nice new 2,500 stall converter to accept the mega cam, once I decide which one I want. So long story short, I can now drive it, but now I cant start it!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
Just put a hand crank out front like they did in the old days Good plan for the bed, I was thinking of doing the same thing but who knows if I will ever get around to doing it.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
hand crank would be funny at a car show.
I have been debating what horn to install. La Cucaracha was my first, then Train horn, and last is an Ahoogaa horn. Im torn maybe just a 50's quick beep. I have no clue! |

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
Thanks Groundbound!
Creep, that horn looks LOUD! I am waiting on the painter to pick up the truck this week!!!!! He is going to help me get the trans off and replace the flex plate as well as finish up the shock mounts, straighten the body, paint, and get the BBW install done. If all goes smoothly it should be done in 2-3 weeks!! |

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
I often wonder what happend to this build...
Did the wife become a major Australian film star? Did the puppy grow up and chew on the truck? Did he lose his job at Home Depot and the pain of that keeps him from posting updates due to the title of his thread??? Or did the painter like the truck so much he kept it? So many questions, so long between updates....

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
Hey Guys!!!! Sorry life as you know it got busy. Work was and is crazy busy. Been working 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. My wife and I just sold my home and are renting until our new home is being completed in 4 months. With a garage!!!
Soooo my fabricator that was going to finish the truck kept saying, 2 more months, 2 more months. Here in Richmond it is hard to find a fabricator that does quality work on cars. So after such a long time of neglect the truck really is getting finished. After being put off for a year and havering the money but no time I hired another fabricator. Work begins in 2 weeks and will have it running and driving in 3 weeks. No more BS. I have a painter lined up as well, should be cruising before mid July fully done. Nothing is truly fully done, I will add stereo, redo the seat, and save for a blower that can fit under the hood. The wife is great, Australia was amazing, and her acting work is really picking up. Got signed by Willimena The dog has eating most other belongings but not the truck Sold home (realtor on left) Killer My baby boy 1.5 years old New house to right of white one View Depo Runner Fender work fabricators project he is finishing |

Can't wait to see the future progress. BTW those houses are beautiful! As someone who enjoys doing some and layout design on the side I really really like what they have there. Post up pics when it's done!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine
You know often times when I'm searching for builds I wonder what happened to the trucks and people. Some builds go a long ways back and it is crazy when a few of them are still kicking around. Glad to see this one still moving a long. Killer view of the water. Man that is nice. It's been awhile since I've been to Richmond. Need to make another trip up sometime.
