Well, I've only read up through page 5, but this looks like my kind of build! I'm subscribed, and so far, what I've seen looks fantastic! Excellent work!

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Thanks guys. I sure do love making my truck better. Polished up the passenger wheels this morning (drivers side tomorrow probably). You could hardly tell they were chrome before.

If only the dent would buff out.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

Have you had any luck locating a used bedside?
I haven't ever tried to buy a used long bed bedside but I would think they would be easier to find than the short bed equivalent and long beds seem to generally be in better condition as well although I'm not sure why.

Still on the hunt for a bedside. I'm sure one will pop up soon enough.

Heck yeah man, nice find!
You should be able to get that color matched in single stage acrylic urethane for really cheap.
The fun part is going to be fabricating the toolbox door but you should be able to do it if you copy the original in exact detail.

Nice find, Jimbo. Now to get it the correct shade of ochre to match the rest of your truck.

Excellent! I wish I could break free from work and meet you there. I may need to make another pilgrimage soon. So much stuff.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I'm getting a second truck! (I know, this is where the Chevy truck addiction disorder begins)

Almost an exact copy of mine but 1970 model. Runs and drives, registered non-op. It belongs to my neighbor and I am trading some work and $500 for it.

You said it brother, hey at least you smart enough to know it haha!
You know...if you manage to find a cheap regular bedside to replace the damaged one on the 70' you can scavenge the tool box door and liner from that one and use it on your mustard truck.

I wonder if you can get one from the same place you just purchased the other one.

Started taking the AC system apart, but it's too hot out to work any more today.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

I got the evaporator case off the firewall this morning. It was a chore because you have to take the inner fender and hood off. Lots of leaves inside the case, but I was able to shake them out. Now to put it all back together and get cold air working.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

If you are keeping the stock style air set up now would be a good time to install a stainless steel trash guard into the cowl to keep leaves and other debris where it belongs, on the outside of the cowl, even though it is ridiculously expensive for what it is IMO it's worth it.
LMC sells it for $50 and Classic Industries should price match it.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly

AC system is mostly put back together. I have a few things to tighten up, then off to the AC shop for a charge of R134a.

Fingers crossed that all this work and $ will pay off with some cool air.
