Excellent work.
You need a shop,... so you can work inside!

Re: Project '86
dV8 - I holeheartedly believe your correct on the chop issues. I think that is why I am probably a hold out on the progress. I can say that it looks better, to me, than I expected.
I realize that my opinion doesn't mean dirt but I am not a negitive person & as in the past I can't believe you get as much done out in the open like you do. I'd like to see stuff you do once you get a garage. Ratty 46 |

Re: Project '86
Got the cab back on the frame and threw the fenders on real quick to see how it looked.

Re: Project '86
OK ...... now that the cab is kinda back together & front fenders on ...... plus the rear widow size ...... I must say it has a very pleasing to the eye proportion.
I'm sure when the bed is installed I have a better view of the total package. Ratty 46 |

Re: Project '86
I'm still not a huge fan of chopped trucks but I really like how the rear window is the height as the side windows. I'll bet that roof is going to be a huge pain in the ass to get to stop oil canning and be strong.

Re: Project '86
Hasn't been to much of a nightmare yet but there is still a long way to go. To add some strenght to it and get some of the shape back I decided to use 16ga from door to door. That helped tremendously to get some stiffness back to it. Before that, it was all over the place.

Re: Project '86
I love that the side windows match the back in height.

Re: Project '86
I've only seen one square body truck chopped. And they chopped it WAY too much and it looked terrible. Yours is looking great so far, keep up the good work.

I love the chop. I honestly didn't think I would, but that is freaking awesome. You're doing a great job.

Re: Project '86
Today I finished all the welding on the outside of the cab (except the doors) and got started on the inside. At the end of the day I threw the seat in to check headroom and noticed the rear window was right at the top of the seat. I didn't plan to run the factory bench but I think it may look too good not to.
