It's a one piece shaft Keith ! 3 1/2" dia . My original plans were to go 4" alum. But had clearance issues when aired out. Denny's said that this 3 1/2 will handle 750 HP. I figured I'm good .... For the time being !!!!

What U-Joints are you running, 1330 or 1350. The only reason I am asking is because I'm looking to do a similar setup. I have been checking out their website trying figure out what I will need. My problem is I don't know my ride height yet, have to get the bed back on to figure it out. Are you still using the stock trailing arm crossmember or did you change it?

What is the hp rating on the big block. Only reason I ask is I am trying to figure out what size shaft I need to run with my engine.

lol !!! Well just for the record, I didn't ask Dennys for a nice shaft , this is just what they sent . It was out of my hands !!

this bbc dyno'd at 540. When I couldnt get a 4" alum to clear, I called and told them I wanted their 3 1/2" HD steel shaft . They informed me that the 3 1/2" alum would withstand to same power levels as their steel HD shaft, which is rated up to 750 hp. So I went with the prettier one ! Lol

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

Still plugging away at it . No new pics but the last week consisted of dropping the trans and installing the converter along with a new pan , removed trailing arm crossmember and powdercoated. Reinstalled and bolted up new driveshaft. Headlight assemblies, park lamps are complete . Front bumper is on the way .

I've made a tempory change on the air ride setup for the time being . I'll just control it for now with paddle valves , the Accuair setup will still happen, I'm just trying to get the truck done for CTC in October without bankrupting myself !

I'm looking for a way to mount the paddle valves in a cool way instead of just bolting the panel under the dash . What ideas do you guys have for this ?

If your not tweaking your valves too much maybe relocate your valve bank to your glove box for the time being??

It was, I think, n2billet's semi-famous 'Lucy' that had the contoured 'box' centered at the front of the bench seat. Can't seem to find pics of it now, but it basically sat where your hand would naturally fall, just behind where a floor shifter would be, attached to the seat frame, but mostly concealed.

That did cross my mind, unfortunately it's slam full of electronics ! I've got one little area left , and it's reserved for the (electric) fan controller .

DuPont has a Super Jet Black which is avail in a factory pack. When you get into the jet black, they all have a purplish hue to them. My preference is a clean black with no purple or brown tint to it . Check it out , it may be to your liking !

Me too. In my memory it was dark red, like his interior. Maybe before he put the digital controller in the ash tray?

Edit- found it:

More pics here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...light=switches

I've also seen guys mount paddles to the seat frame, but not sure I like the look...

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

Thanks gringo , I just noticed your last edit . I'm still racking my brain on this thing and really don't want to spend a bunch of fab and paint time on something temporary . I studied it some more this evening, and realized there is no visible frame on the Teas seat , it's all covered in leather. I think I'll try something where the switch panel just slides out from under the seat on the drivers side .

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

Some more progress to speak of ! Hood and cowl came back from paint shop and were installed this past weekend. Air ride system is complete. I've still got to replace the door seals so we can do a final panel alignment. Who's got seals that are close to the same thickness as the GM seals.
