Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Thats sad, but you can always build a truck in memory of your grandpa, even if its not his have his name pinstriped on the tailgate or something like that

I just find it hard to believe someone would crush a factory swb with a/c and a good title

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Your dad obviously knows how hard you are looking for the truck. Why would be lie to you and tell you someone called saying it was crushed? UNless it was in an accident or something and got scrapped. Ask him if hes serious or not... Anything is possible with these old trucks.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
13.50 is a good job for an 18 yr old with no college degree. My best job ever was making semi parts for 14.75, if i still had it id be making 19.75, worst mistake ever

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
If your dad thinks you're obsessing on this he may have told you that to make you give up and move on. I know it sounds mean but he has good intentions, us dads are not perfect but we try.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
He says he is serious, but I doubt it ...All the truck needed really was a Motor
Someone would have to be out of their mind, besides I asked the guy we sold it to, he said he just sold it nothing else But the story goes, He says someone called the House....Which I never put my Home Number online...So that was were I caight hi, I guess he knows how bad I stress over this Truck, and wants me to dim it down He is right and right now I am focusing on Job and College

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
I found my Grandfathers orange and black 72 Cheyenne back. I was messing around on Craiglist one night and saw an add for 72 c-10. I clicked on and it was the one. It had changed hands about four times since he sold in the late 80's. I even had to cross state lines to get it. Once I saw it, I was able to verify that it was his.
I know how you feel. Keep the faith. God works in mysterious ways. |

What do yall think of it ? The Story behind it: As far as I know My Great-Grandfather Howard Augustus Schrum, bought it new near Dallas,North Carolina..He drove my Uncles and my Grandfather..As time went by, My Great Grandfather gave it to my Grandfather Gerald Schrum. He used it for years and years...He also had a 1971 GMC Sierra(As you see in my Profile Photo,I am currently looking for it).Well the Story goes, the engine blew or something. The back of the Bed was so rusted, it was an unbelieveable sight.Well years go by, it sat up in our pasture well.Someone called complaining about all of his cars sitting up there,Ranging from 1968,1972, Volkswagen Beetles, many StationWagons(Fords/Chevy).,1985 Honda CRX,1988 Honda Prelude, 1987 Pontiac Fiero, and a couple of MG´s...Well he had to find someone to pick them up and haul them to the Junkyard (Est.2005)..Well they were taken to the Junkyard and me and him went through the Cars and Trucks looking for some old stuff and Personal Items..Years went by, I completely forgot about all of that...Gerald passed in Dec 26th 2010, It devastated me...and So on, well by chance my Cousin, She had dated a Young man up in Vale,NC..He turns out to own the 1959 Truck..I desperately wanted to get in touch with him about it..So now I know exactly where its at The Original Color: Greenish Color(As Far as I know) Before you ask, The headlights are being re-done by the Current Owners and they are putting new glass in as those old ones were milky looking..They still have the Original Tires that were on it I hope ya´ll like it, Tell me what you think Pros and Cons as well

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Again... it's his and he can do with it as he sees fit.
Stressing over a hunk of metal is pointless. Wait till you actually have the cash to even buy a truck. And have more than what you are just willing to pay. Trust me... when you've saved up the money to buy the rig, then have some extra cash to do some stuff to it... it will pay off in spades. God or not... you need to move on... Gary

Be cool if you get the 59 gmc and the wood bed floor is way cooler than steel. Just my opinion.

Re: Looking for my Grandfathers 1971 GMC SIERRA
Unfortunately people crush good cars every day. Some get rescued and some dont. Hopefully you find it one day. Until then you should snap up that awesome 59 before its gone too.
