Even cheaper...
Powdercoat or paint the wheels then the chrome caps that you have. Can even add a short beauty ring

I fooled with the big truck grille today. I've still got sandblasting sand in uncomfortable places.
When I got the grille...  A reminder of what the old grille in the truck looks like currently...  After some work...   I like it a lot. It's going to stay. I still won't sell my 63 grille though. It's going on the wall by my extra powdercoated 62 grille.

Another positive for the grill
Hey Tx have you heard of, or done chrome powdercoat? If so what do you think of it and another question a guy i know bought a set of wheels that were powdercoated yellow then rattle canned black can he use paint remover or will that peel the powdercoat too thanks, Tony

As much as I like Ralleys, I agree that they wouldn't do the 'theme' on this truck any justice. I also feel the tires need to remain around stock height (27-28" in front ).
Might I suggest 215-70-15's (@ 26.85") or 215-75-15's (@ 27.7") on some 15x6's. Rears can be taller if you want some rake. 255-70's work well on 15x8's (assuming that's the direction you're going). They would be 29" tall. If that's too tall, 275-60's are 28" tall & will fit the 8's w/a little bulge @ the side wall vs. being more 'square'. I really like the 215-75/255-70 combo if it fits the front (which it should). 2nd choice would be the 215-70's if 'matching' tread patterns are a priority (some guys are that anul). Diggin' that grille....

Kevin, it's a little out of the way, but you are more than welcome to try out my 215/70's and 255/70's on your truck before you commit to tire sizes. They are even on ralleys, if you want to confirm that might be or not be the way to go. They are on 7's and 8's, respectively.

Grill looks awesome man.
I know your wheel woes have been taken care of for the moment, but I thought I would post this up. This is my cousin's 66 VW Double Cab. He went to a Chevrolet bolt pattern, and had a set of ralley wheels powdercoated, and went with the chrome hub cap, and a small beauty ring. Wrapped in a set of mild white walls I think it looks awesome. There are so many combinations of wheels and tires that would look good on your truck, and I think something like this may work too. I can't wait to see what you are going to run. |

I agree with Scoti on the tire sizes. I think that the rallies would take away from your theme. How about PC the chrome reverse wheels white and use the chrome baby moons as another option? Anyway, I know that we cannot see your "vision" for this truck. I hope you find a wheel that makes you happy! I really like the whole concept of this daily driver... I also sent you a PM.
