Re: Project N2Deep

I put the Intro wheels on and between the drive shaft wanting to hit the rear of the cab (one-piece) and rear notch bracing, I will need to run a 2" bump stop. With the 2" bump stop that should level out the truck (stock front frame) and allow me to use the CPP gas tank w/o mods (I will have 1.5" clearence on the gas tank with the bump stopswith the suspension aired out). This should give me 4" @ride height.

He had the dash (Auto Meter "Carbon" gauges & body color painted NO Limit bezel) put together and it came out real nice.

I love the Airstream, but it has turned into another project! And I sold the Tundra that I had (long story as the wife wrecked her car and wouldn't drive the Tundra (too big), so I had to sell it and buy her a car). Now the only thing I have to pull it with is the 72 Super SWB 4x4 and it needs some work. I live up a series of hills with one monster of a hill going up to my house that is real hard on anything pulling a load, even my buddies F250 started having trans chatter while pulling my moms nova in a trailer up to my house. So for now it just sits in storage.

Re: Project N2Deep

Ok I had some "words" with the builder and I'm hoping to get this thing back on track. Seems he's had some "personal" issues and took a few weeks off. I know we have all had issues with shops, but Don seems to be a good guy so I'm hoping he can get this thing done. I'm already missing some of the Socal show season!

Re: Project N2Deep

I stopped by the shop today (its been over a month since I checked on it) and he had the cab forward put together. Everything except the bumper and the gauge panel installed. He installed the column, cable shifter, gas pedal, reworked the gas pedal & brake booster, installed a new power steering pump & bracket-old one leaked and I couldn't find a pump that fit the bracket I had, intalled the headlights, grill and hood. So from what I saw he needs to install the front bumper, gauge panel, paint the bed and tailgate. I took some pics with my iphone and will post them when I get home. I was hoping to take it to the "Brothers" show, but doesn't look like it's going to happen. Maybe I'll show it as a under construction w/o an interior! Anyways the truck is coming along, just very slow.

Re: Project N2Deep

Thanks! I can't wait to put the wheels on and see the final product. It's been one of those things in life that got away from me (too many shops-promises, money and time has gone into this project). But as they say as long as you learn from your mistakes! At this point it's not the latest or greatest, but it is what I envisioned from the start.

Re: Project N2Deep

Well I had to work for one. And I almost pulled it out of the shop last week. To make a long story short, this guy has been giving me BS from the start. Per our original contract the the truck was suppose to be done in Nov (09), but I knew going in it would take longer and I didn't have a problem with that as long as the quality was good. Like I said a few posts back we had some words and he told me "man to man" he would have my truck done by June. Guess what, I went down there last week and he hadn't even started the bed. He had the whole front clip scuffed, cuz he said he was going to respray it (guess after sitting in his shop for months it had sratches etc... and I saw some sanding marks thru the clear.

I just don't get some people, they complain that their lives are a wreck & they have no money, yet don't do what they say and leave money on the floor. I mean I told this guy from the start I have three more cars & trucks that I want to have repainted and he is jerking me around on this one. He was sitting there telling me he is going to have to go out of business, cuz he has no business. Well I wonder why!

Well stay tuned as I have a feeling this will get interesting. Anyone know a good body shop in Socal (that doesn't mind finishing someone elses work)?

Man that sucks! I think I would go pick up everything and take it to the house and find someone else. Good luck with it.
