Really needed to get the truck back on the road and Trevor was having trouble getting the wheels(out of stock) so I decided to wait until this fall. I will run the 16's for the summer! Posted via Mobile Device

Sounds good. I bet you feel good all the hard work over a short period of time and now it's time to have fun. You have a sweet ride, the best part about it is it's nice and clean. Have fun and safe boatin.

Re: My 84 CC Dually mod thread - there will be plenty of pics
Towed the boat for the first time yesterday, tows real nice, the extra torque in the engine pulls the 10,000lb load effortlessly! The air ride in the rear makes it ride like a caddy! All in all very happy! I will tell you the boat looks a lot bigger through the back window now that the truck sits lower!

Well what I paid for it and what it cost to own it are two different things! I paid $19,000. The boat was in really good shape and had a lot of upgrades when it came to engines (502's instead of 454's, expensive "dry pipe" exhaust system, etc. The trailer was a relatively new aluminum I-beam trailer which retails for $7k. The way I looked at it was I paid $19k for the engines, outdrives and trailer and got the hull for free. Now since I bought the boat I have put close to another $10k into it to get to to where I wanted it. So I would say I am at $30k which sounds real reasonable but it took me almost 4 years to get it to the point where I was comfortable putting it back in the water. Buying used boats are tricky, there are a lot of things that can make it a good or bad deal and many of those things can not be seen with the naked eye. If your gonna buy a used boat you really need to have it surveyed before buying! It is well worth the money up front! Posted via Mobile Device

For those of you that are familiar with these crew cab long beds know how long they are, then you look at this picture and realize how short the truck looks compared to the boat. Would you believe from bumper to tip of outdrive the whole rig is 63 feet long!! Yikes!! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: My 84 CC Dually mod thread - there will be plenty of pics
I have received a lot of inspiration from your build a I have given serious consideration to going the single large capacity tank route on my project 75 longbed (original owner). I would like to know what the outcome of your custom fuel neck build has been now that the truck is on the road. Have you had any issues with splashback or the fuel nozzle constantly shutting off while filling? I didn't see (or overlooked) any pictures or hear mention of providing a vent circuit from the tank to the top of the filler neck to prevent blowback. I have done custom fuel tanks in the past and filler neck routing and venting is crucial to hassle free filling.
Thanks for an informative and entertaining build. Those Phantom grills are a great addition for that body style PU. |
