Thanks for sharing Jacob - can you tell me what letters/numbers are just off the screen to the left of the "45" (i.e. what's the whole code to the left of the "Cheyenne Super Sport"?)
The actual RPO is just out of the field of view to the left of the "45". Factory AM/FM too, nice!

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

It should show a YE9 within the numbers to the left of the Cheyenne Super. It’s normally just called Cheyenne Super Equipment or just plain old Cheyenne Super, but have seen the Super Sport nomenclature before - but the YE9 is what matters, not the words. Your big block, tilt, and am/fm are very nice options.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

I’m one of the lucky ones! I bought this ‘71 Cheyenne Super back in ‘03, only to find out a few weeks later that my grandfather was the original owner. I’m hoping to have her on the road again by the end of the year.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

Welcome to the site! Regardless of the slight variations in wording, the YE9 RPO is what makes it a "Cheyenne Super".

On the other hand, a "Custom SPORT Truck", or "CST" (there's that Sport word again..) is equivalent to a Z84 RPO "Cheyenne", one step below the YE9 trim level. Z84 was the top of the line through 1970, then YE9 became the top of the line from 71 forward (it later became the Silverado).

Great reference - thanks for posting. Didn’t Janesville occasionally center the secondary emblem also or was that just the Deluxe in Custom Deluxe? Looks like it’s also much lower than the left justified Super emblems. Don’t see many Atl trucks...

I thought it was the deluxe that was done different. I've never saw a Super placed that way.

Just my opinion, but I would bet those fenders have been changed. Janesville did center the “deluxe” emblem, but I have never seen a “super” centered before. Now I am always open to learning something new though...

I've come to realize there are no absolutes with these trucks as something different is always popping up as we go.

Here’s one very similar/original like JQ’s above
This one came out of Eastern Washington
It spent its whole life with one owner also
Probably the most documented truck I’ve ever had
What a difference it makes where these trucks spent their time
It really has no rust
That funky patina happened when there was a fire in the owners field
Here raced out there to check on it, when it burned right up beside the truck
And(I guess) melted the paint
We call it
‘The fire truck’

Joe, I was thinking the doors had been replaced, but not really sure. Of the Supers I’ve seen centered, I’ve always assumed they were owner misplacements on a non-Super that was being “upgraded” - until I saw the above one, which looks pretty original to me. But it’s so hard to tell. These trucks are old enough to have different patina on different replaced panels over the years. Makes me want to dig thru the “Janesville Files”.... (little known 70’s show with a private investigator that drove Chevy trucks instead of Firebirds, he went around the country solving VIN and SPID mysteries ).
