Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

Excellent! I was hoping this project didn't end up in purgatory like so many others. One of my favorites. I started doing the body work on my Jimmy and have dreams of someday doing a bad ass suspension on it all on my own.

I agree....it's good to see you working on this again.

I think you did a fine job on the headers.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

So, whats the best way to adapt my 3" collectors to the 2.5" exhaust tubing? Do I get reducers then weld on flanges? Any part numbers out there to look at? Summit maybe? Thanks

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

You could go with either a slip on collector reducer, with a band clamp, or weld on a typical 3 bolt flange collector. Either one will need to have a 3" ID....that is assuming your headers have a 3" OD collector. Summit has both.

Yeah, would rather the weld on type. I dont want to deal with leaks.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

I have used these before to repair broken flanges on headers.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4752ID/

I just welded them onto the collectors on the headers.

You could also butt weld these if you would rather do it that way.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4752/

I'm going to be trying these on my next exhaust installation.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4770/

You could also go this route, although more $$

I will weld the reducers to the headers then use the clamps on the 2.5" tubing.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

There is really no reason the slip fit reducers and band clamps won't work. I posted the links to those collectors, because you said you wanted flanges.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

I was thinking out loud, I just did not want a leaking system. If I dont like these, I will get one of the weld on flanges you posted. Supposedly these clamps have a good seal, we'll see. Thanks

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

Those band clamps work well. one of the reasons I like them, is that you can remove them and disassemble your connection easily, Unlike the typical U-bolt style exhaust clamp.

Re: Here is a "Not Your Typical" 4wd Blazer build

The clamps seem to hold really good! I got all my exhaust done yetserday, but the passenger side needs a little bend to go around the transfer case, its barely off, but a little modifications will be needed. Next, working on getting the fuel cell mounted and the plumbing ran...

How about like this high quality exhaust from a Jeep I picked up a few years ago?
