Re: Bubba's recycling project
I know Ammoss that was one of the nicer center consoles I'd seen, and now he has gone and ruined the classic look he had going.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Are you guys laughing at my cardboard "speaker box" ?????
It served the purpose for a time and the towel over the box hid the speakers from unwanted attention in the high school parking lot. Crazy spring -it is snowing again,We had 2 inches by noon and all melted by 5:00 pm It is back in the garage for a couple of days, I changed the oil and went to a 15/40W diesel oil. I had the electric fuel pump wired to work from an oil pressure switch only, and now the thicker oil holds the fuel pump on after the motor is turned off a little bit too long. Time to make things right and wire the fuel pump through the key, add a crash safety switch and the oil pressure switch. I am thinking of adding a primer button in the dash to run the fuel pump to help fill the carb after sitting for a time and when the carb has evaporated the fuel or drained back.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Wow it has been a month since last update. Cannot get the truck back from daughter long enough to work on it.. It has gone 3200 miles since school started back in September.
Daughter has summer weekend job now.. Working at the local Speedway circle track selling tickets and concessions on Saturday nights.. Hope this will include lots of free tickets to the races for Dad.. I now have a lifter clicking at random times after changing the oil to the 15-40 diesel oil. Sometimes in the cold at start-up but not always .sometimes when it is warmed it will click for a while then quit. Wonder if I stirred up some sludge and now have a lifter that is not pumping up?? This might be a job for Marvel Mystery Oil!!

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Yeah the 71 is next to be built , but my wife claims it already.. But she also wants a 396 big block in it!!
I am planning a midlife crisis soon. I already have the red Chevelle convertible.. Just need a bunch of gold chains and maybe shave my head and get an ear ring.

I am thinking about an electric truck. Line the bed with batteries and lower it at the same time with the weight.....

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Or a windmill in the bed. That way when you drive the wind would turn it and it could charge your batt. Or better yet just forget the batt. and hook it up direct drive.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
You know , I just realized that I have a three car garage and my Chevelle and my old truck sit inside while my wife's new GMC Yukon and my 2003 F^%D sit out in the weather.. But then my crewcab longbed truck will not fit in the garage anyway unless you leave the garage door open....

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Dave - that is a picture from a couple years ago taken in the garage.. there is stuff hanging every where from the walls and ceiling now.
Ya know , Newsprint on the floor when you paint , solves the crime scene problem. I did a lot of the work on the cross member and tranny swap outside in the driveway!

Re: Bubba's recycling project
I'll have to see if I can find a picture of my garage from a few years ago. Can't wait to see it in about five years. Bet I'll have another couple trucks in there, and still not have any done.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
I need some I'm still looking for some punk kid to spray the inside of my garage doors in some cool graffiti. I'm thinking it will really help the resale valve. I'm thinking I supply the paint and 100 bill. I might have to blind fold him.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Dave You need to just hide out in the rail yard and grab any kids who have spray paint and are tagging rail cars.. Some of them are pretty creative!
Some swap meet Chrome I scored . And I bought another set of 6 cylinder power steering brackets I found at the bottom of a box of stuff. Swap meets are a blast --I love finding treasures! Had a little time tonight before dark and installed a Sun tach I bought at the swap meet . It is not much ,But it is still progress! (thanks alan!) Spring is a busy time around here!!

Re: Bubba's recycling project
You could have swaped out your dash for a 66 one. Then you could have had a factory tech, that doesn't work with crap. I'm going to sell mine and buy a new 90 degree sweep. Somthing that will work with a new HEI. I've tried to hide and grab but I'm getting old and slow. Did you paint your car?

Re: Bubba's recycling project
I am planning on replacing the dash and using round gauges someday. These are working for now.
I cannot get it back from daughter long enough to work on it anymore!! Good thing it has been very reliable so far! this tach is working just great with the HEI Nope-I have not painted anything lately

Re: Bubba's recycling project
I just want it long enough to get the Offenhauser intake put on it , But now I have to put new struts on the Yoda first, they are leaking badly and rattling.
I have a cruise on May 7th, I want to enter the 64 so I need it running for that show. Dave -do you still need a 6-lug rear axle??? I am cleaning up the garage.

I think I'm just going to leave mine the way it is. It's great for around town and I never drive it on the hiway.

Hey Bubba, chrome looks good! What cruise are you going to? I just got back from 3 weeks of training in Cali. It's very nice to be home, I'm ready to go cruise in the truck!
