Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
Got tons done this weekend all the mounts are set now for good got the firewall painted, one door installed and a ton of other little stuff that needed done
In order to get the motor mounts bolted in I had to remove the lower control arms off... For any of you that have done this on an old car/truck with IFS you know that that is easier said then done all my ball joints are shot and most of my tie rods are sticky but my truck budget is getting thin so for now we will put in some fresh grease and call it good unfortunately also found out that I have a 5 inch chop not a 3&1/4 like I originally thought

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
Quantity vs. Quality Kim that's all I have to say
Just ordered a set of used tires from a local auto recycler for $125 for a pair with 85% tread left ended up going for a set of Wrangler SRAs size 265/75R15 nearly identical to 31/10.5R15 now we need to finish the rear axle shortening job to get them suckers on

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
Not a big update but tonight I was able to reinstall the control arms after a "grease flush" they move a lot smoother now aren't perfect but will do the job for now
The coils off my step dads Nova are a lot better looking and stronger then the last set I could tell when compressing them Tomorrow I will wrap up the shocks and get her down on all 4's again My tentative plan for the weekend is to get the rear axle shortened and reassembled as the Fiance is out of town perfect time to do it Thanks all for taking a look - Logan

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
This truck may be the death of me yet I can barely walk today after doing all of that suspension work...
So we are taking a brake for a few days they are calling for 80+degrees and 70%+ humidity that's to hot to work on much anyways

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
That's some great progress. I think after a few hard days work on your truck it's good to take a couple days to recover. If you keep going you will burn out. Ask me how I know lol. Looking real good tho.

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
Yep, that's a pretty rake you get
I, personal, like blackwalls. But that's how I build my truck, kind of a ratrod. It's a very personal choice, everybody has an opinion about that.... Cool, you got the cluster from the forum! I myself have had plenty of help also from the forummembers ( you know who you are ) and I live a few Miles away Guess we're all the same, trying to help our fellow builders

Thats what I was thinking

Thanks for the awesome compliment on my build "style" I've never been one to be afraid of a challenge or new skill as corny as this will sound learning and new experiences are fun As for being fiscally responsible my fiance literally laughed outloud saying "the trucks the most expensive part of the wedding" I get no sympathy from her I suppose but hey the memories are priceless True a nice glossed black tire is a sight to behold Quote:

I to think that everyone on here is so kind to each other because we all are going through the same stuff looking for parts saving up for them building and all the highs and lows that go with it May just say I'm humbled to know you think that because when I look at your build and how its all coming together all I can do is.... thanks for stopping by Dave

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
Got a tiny bit done tonight I started to drill out the plug welds on my 8.8 axle so I can shorten the one side tube and get it under the truck
Also got the brake parts for it in from rockauto today can I just say they are awesome for parts cheap and fast shipping never had a single issue with them once Then I just began the process of coming up with my wiring harness setup for my ignition system in my head to know what I need for gauge wire so we can get an engine startup/break-in video soon!

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
What's cool about this hobby, you build it the way you want it. The tires aren't quite my taste, but at least they won't last long behind the bbc.

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)
I considered an axle over spring but I was worried about having to c-notch the frame or would that not be an issue?
