Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Sounds good Dennis, right now we are in the same boat, I got the patch panels for the 73. I just need to get some por-15 and some good primer, also bed liner in a can for the underside.

Sounds like a hell of a plan...
I don't know about the truck Painless Wiring harness, but I used one on my '79 CJ-5, and it was awesome! It was very user friendly...highly recommended. |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
X2 On the welder. I've been trying to convince my wife that I NEED one for my projects. I tried to get her to buy me one for my birthday next Saturday. "Not in the budget" was the answer I got. haha. The painless harness isn't too bad. I'm actually in the process of installing one in a Chevy II at the moment.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
do the kits have all the connectors and everything?... there is alot going on with all that wire i pulled out... from a/c, to power windows, cruise, fuel tank switch, on and on...
there was alot of vacuum hoses in there too! i hope it all goes together smooth... i need to get another box for a/c in the cab and under the hood too. all the mount brackets broke off.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
funny you guys are talking about welders.....
I got a like new Lincoln SP-135 Plus for $500 off of craigslist Friday. It came with a cart, small argon bottle (that is full), two 2lb spools of wire (.030 shielded & .025 solid), an auto darkening helmet, and some welding sleeves. The guy bought it last year to learn to weld at 73 years old. His eyesight was too poor to see his welding. He said he maybe used it for a half hour. I even got to use it as i was swapping my front end this weekend

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
alright, i have been doing stuff!!! got the garage all cleaned out and all the interior put away nicely in boxes.
cabs completely stripped and i got the windshield out without breaking it i started a thread on the rust on the passenger side floorboard.... check it out what a good time so far! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...55#post3518455 sandblasted the area to see how bad it really is... turns out there is a few more pin holes and the metal is pretty eaten up in spots so im not just going to cut out small portions and hope for the best. i ordered a patch panel from captkaos site 73-87chevytrucks.com

Looks good Dennis. The patch panel you ordered should be a quick easy fix for the little rust you have there.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I'm really spoiled living in Arizona my whole life. You East and Southern guys have a lot of rust to deal with. I'm glad to see you guys repair it and replace panels. We just don't see much of it here in the dry desert, luckily.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
lol... i'm just down the street from you. down the state actually. my rust was from an unknown heater core leak for years. i do agree we are lucky over here. some of the rust damage is unbelievable!
