That's a good idea... I posted it in there too so hopefully I can find someone to help me. I don't mind welding on something think but welding on sheetmetal scares me. I'd love to have someone come over and give me a few lessons and show me how. I have the firewall I'd like to shave and the PB hood hinges I'd like to install.

Welding sheet metal is not that hard, the name of the game is controlling the heat. This is accomplished by a series of alternating tack welds strung together. The thinner the wire the less heat in the equation, .023 is a good wire for body work. One of those small 110v welders is fine for body panels.

got a good bit done this weekend. Although I was set back a bit.

The way that I ran the air ride stuff in the frame had me a little worried about heat from the exhaust and melting the air lines. So I went to summit to buy all new rubber hoses to rerun everything and they didnt have any rubber hoses.....Sooo.... I ran aluminum lines. Oh boy that was a PITA. This is my first time ever bending line so its not the prettiest. I havent cleaned up the wiring and hoses in the back so ignore the mess. I just wanted to post up the pic to give you guys an update. The rear plate that I made to mount all the air controls is actually kinda cool.. A buddy of mine had the idea to bend some 18 guage sheet metal to hug the Porterbuilt tubular crossmember then mount everything to it. It turned out kinda nice.

As far as lifting the cab... that was pretty interesting. I ended up attaching the engin leveler thing to the seat bolt holes with some really large washers behind it. so the engine hoist lifted up one side while me and a buddy lifted the other. we were able to manover the hoist around and get the cab on the frame. It wasnt too bad.

Well..... back to work. I have this coming up week off to finish this thing up. Wish me luck.

so in two weeks... i went from the first pic to the second pic.

Now.... I just gotta get me some slosh tubs. cause my tires still hit the top of the fenders with the fender wells out.

I ran into.some problem.with the.fuel lines I'm trying to fix that now.

man it looks sick! very cool you got the EFI in and air ride...

tell me something. I am no expert on these air ride things. but normally you have a leaf-spring and shocks. With this air ride, dont you have any shocks or springs anymore? is it all handled by the airbags?

Alan... You werent by chance hauling a bed on a trailor were you? I passed someone going down the interstate with a 67-72 bed on a trailor.

No, I was hauling Girl Scout cookies. I didnt really know where your Resturant was. I was searching the board at traffic lights on my phone for your address and by the time I found it I was up past home depot heading to 400. I was wanting to get home to work on my truck some.

Thanks guys... I got the motor all wired up last night with the American Autowire kit. It's been a royal pain in the butt for this rookie. Maybe I should have gone with painless for my first build. It's a nice kit, done get me wrong, and the instructions are great. But I didn't realise I had to make every connection for this thing. It's been very time consuming. I'm going to try and do the headlights and all tonight.

How's the aluminum tubing doing for holding air?

It was really easy to install and there are absolutly no leaks at all. I have one leak in my whole setup and its where I made a Tee for the water trape. That was my fault and I ordered some new quick connects to fix it.

The aluminum lines actually hold in the quick connects really good.
