Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Thanks Average Joe. It is easy. When you hire the people with talent to do those things that you are not good at. Let them do their thing.
Pretty soon it will be back on me to push it across the finish line.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Time to go to bed. Er, I mean time to tackle the bed.
I had to cut off the bolts that held the fenders in place last week due to the mobile blaster was coming to my house bright and early Friday morning to blast my bed and tailgate. The bed with the new square body fleetside bedfloor was very solid and pretty clean top and bottom. So here are some pics. This morning while my body guy was working his magic on the fenders and hood I primed and undercoated the underneath of the bed.

Paint is a Matrix base coat clear coat. I am really happy with how it's coming out. On another issue Lanny. The seat set I got from Joe K. is up for grabs if you want it. Free to U. Let me know. I am going to put a trimmed down stock seat back in Homer.

It just needed recovering but I pitched it for these bucket seats I have now, that I don't like. But saying all that Ill take the seat off your hands..... don't know when I can get over there, as I going to Texas this weekend ...on another note I hear rumors that I may be working in your neck of the wood again. guess well see. That is what I was concerned with too on the seat sides, that and no tracks but that's doable. Going to Texas huh? Take your umbrella. Or better yet a canoe. Yeah rumors and running again, we'll see. Quote:

Thanks Wayne, friend request accepted.
Looking forward to the next steps on Homer. Don't know how you all handle the heat. In the 80's and humid here so dreaming of air conditioning in the shop. Doug |

I am real excited to get these next steps done on Homer too. Heck, I don't even know if the motor is gonna stay yet. I know, cart before horse, just how it's playing out. My body man became available for a short window so I jumped on that a little ahead of schedule. As to the heat 114* yesterday, 115* called for today. Heck it was 87* at 5:15 this morning when I got in the truck and headed for work. but we are not in our Humid period yet. That's the only way it's tolerable. I was born in Florida and went back in my early 20's and I'll take this dry high heat over that humid stuff any day of the week. I am also dreaming of a shop with AC one of these days. Maybe,

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
I couldn't agree more on both parts, i used to live in eastern wa and the heat was tolerable as it was dry, cant say I'd be used to anything in the temps your experiencing tho..Over here when it hits 80 where I'm at now i start to swelter because the humidity.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
To be perfectly honest, it's easier to survive (and work on my truck) in our 110* heat than it is in you all's 85* with high humidity. At least it's easier for me. That humidity just kicks my b*tt.

And thank you very much for the kind words sir. I do believe he's gonna be different and cool. We'll see.
If I am wrong I can at least tell people "it wasn't just me. these guys on the forum thought so too.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
I don't know Flashed. I remember a summer when my kids were young Millions of Americans thought Vanilla Ice was cool as could be. Funny thing is ask everybody, and they all say the same thing, that they were not in that group.
At least we are in good company as far as I am concerned. There's even lots on here that think if it's not 1/2 ton, fleetside, slammed on the ground scraping the asphalt that it cannot be cool. I dig them too, but have really grown fond of these old work horses. Like the rest of us.

Wayne...
It's really about working early in the morning.. staying hydrated... lights in the evening.. avoid the heat of the day.. But what most of the nation can't beat about our climate... Being able to pull a wrench and still feel our fingers.... in shorts... the weekend after Christmas. .

Last house I had in the mountains before I sold out and moved down to the valley had a nice 3 bay heated shop. I would go out in the morning during the winter and crank up the heater while I went back in and drank my coffee. Go back out with the snow blowing and it'd be 78* and short sleeve weather. Hopefully get another shop some day.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Out of town last weekend so got my bodyman/painter back over this weekend for another session. Worked over the rear fenders, hood, grill, and cowl piece. Overall another good weekend of progress.
