i have been looking into seats like this for my truck but was concerned with the cup holders hitting the 4wd shifter......any issues there? i would also have the gas tank behind the seat where as you dont

I just read through your complete build. Awesome.... Your doing a great job and what a way to pay attention to detail in such a short period. I am tuned in..

That's some nice looking seats. I think those will work out good for you. I really like the integrated seat belts too. Nice tank and V/A kit.

Possibly, I mocked mine up and it fit just right to where when the seat is flipped up it wont rub on the back of the cab and the shifter still goes into 4wd without hitting the cup holder. I also removed my tank from behind the seat so I would bet it would get a smidge tighter with the tank installed.

Possibly, I mocked mine up and it fit just right to where when the seat is flipped up it wont rub on the back of the cab and the shifter still goes into 4wd without hitting the cup holder. I also removed my tank from behind the seat so I would bet it would get a smidge tighter with the tank installed. Just adding my .02

Build is coming along nicely. What where the seats out of with the bowtie on them? I like them alot.

Yes, the cup holder appears to be in the way. I need to mount the cab to the frame to make sure.. If it hits, I will remove the cupholder....

Thanks for the comments.. It seems like things have really slowed down since I started on the rust repair.. but now that the rust is almost gone, I will start to pick up the pace again..

It’s the weekend, so time for an update.. Started off by finishing the seat mounting system..


















Then I started on the air-conditioning mounting..






Tomorrow, I will work some more on the air-conditioning, and then maybe weld the dash in and maybe the rockers.. I hope to test fit the cab next week..

Hey Mark, Very nice work on the seat mounts. They look super sturdy and well planned. That V/A kit looks good too. I see they have made a bunch of changes to it since my old unit was made. I really like the bulkhead connection. It should clean up the connections. Keep up the hard work.

Thanks Mike.. I still need to slow down and start focusing on some of the smaller things (clean up some welds, and do some sanding, etc)… But it will all come together someday..

I have the old cab loaded on the SeaDoo trailer.. That’s right.. Hillbilly all the way.. Do you have room for it in the boneyard? If so, will you be around tomorrow?

Thanks, I hope so. I really considered building a crossmember to weld under the cab, but I looked at how the factory 2005 seats were mounted, and this is just as stong in my opinion.

My lovely wife cleaned up the seats yesterday. They look a lot better, but the fabric is worn in a few places and the leather is cracked as well. The seats are somewhat broke down on the sides, but they are used seats, so some wear is to be expected. I am still not sure this is the set for me.





Work some more on the firewall, filled in the holes for the old throttle mount and welded in the bracket that mcbassin made for me.. Once again thanks Mike. I then mounted the gas pedal to the mount. I still need to finish fabbing up the pedal.









This week I will start gathering the supplies and tools need for the body work and primer for the cab. This is all foreign to me, so it might take awhile.

Killer work on the firewall Mark. You definetly the metal fab figured out. You sure you aren't holding out? I swear you have been welding all your life man. I like how the seats turned out. You have really brought this cab out of the dumps......
Bodywork is easy compared to all that rust repair.

Didn’t get a lot done this weekend.. Installed the rockers, started painting the bottom of the cab (ran out of POR15), and finished up on filling the holes in the firewall.






I did buy $300 worth of epoxy primer, activator, reducer, Paint thinner, primer gun, and body filler.. I have some surface rust that I will need to re-blast and then shoot the primer.

Thought I would also share an interesting event from the weekend. The wonderful little fellow below fell from the insulated ceiling in my shop Saturday. He was after some birds that had made a nest in the ceiling. He landed about a foot away from where my wife was sitting just a few minutes before. I thought about leaving him in the shop, but was afraid someone would hurt him or themselves, so I played with him for a little while and then let him go in the woods behind the house..

Thanks.. I guess that is how metal and body work is.. You work all day on something, and you don't see the progress like you do with mechanical or electrical work.. I guess I will keep doing something every chance I get, and someday it will be done.. I hope :-)

I know what you mean on bodywork, I am working on my whole truck now afetr my bodyman changed his mind and rented his shop out, so trying hard to cut out inner/outer rockers and also cab corners and reinstall all in straight as a bodyman. Engine work, easy in my sleep even but body work wow what an effort, yours looks real nice, sure is slow though isn't it.
