The engine is back in, AC vents finalized, double sound deadening finished, Pedals installed, column painted and installed... She should start moving along now!

We did use the factory arm, we bent it slotted it, welded a new pad on it to fit the new pedal cover, powder coated it and there you have it, once its hooked up it sits much closer to the floor like a modern truck!

I think you need to change the name of this thread. I would no longer consider you a new member.

Re: New member with a 1960

A bit more progress, the throttle bracket that was fabricated turned out great, we had to modify the front sway bar a bit but it seems to fit perfect now!

Re: New member with a 1960

The transmission linkage is buttoned up, and works really well! A/C compressor and Power steering pump installed, while I was there I snapped a couple shots of the rear suspension and tires....

Installed! Time to start swapping mock up bolts! I think all the repairs will be in primer today as well!

Yes sir,

That's a Nascar 3 piece or some call it blade style, while I don't think what we have is exactly blade style, it is a Nascar 3 piece setup.
Essentially what most guys do on these trucks is just adapt a sway bar to fit it, that's awesome, it works and improves handling, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that approach!
Our goal with this setup in adjustability and very fine tuning...when sway bar manufacturers make these bars they make them to work with multiple applications and sometimes multiple vehicles, they will always offer improvement but how much? and how much will a bar help a stock truck vs a 700 HP truck with 14" drag radials or road race type tires?
With this setup I can run a 3 way adjustable coil over with a few different springs to really fine tune it! We built the truck as a driver but we want it to perform also, I hope to have in on the 2017or 2018 power tour, we want to see how it performs on the road coarse as well as the drag strip!
I don't believe there was ever a bolt on sway bar made for a 1961 Apache with a blown LS engine running a 14" wide tire...LOL
So the just of it is to get max performance, it will obviously take some fine tuning but I believe the efforts will be worth it!
Below the sway bar setup is the panhard setup which allows for a little more articulation of the rear end than a standard bar while limiting the side to side movement!

Re: New member with a 1960

I was a bit concerned about the supercharger belt slipping since we are running a smaller pulley, after a bit of thought we came up with this.....
it should give us 3/4 wrap which before we only had less than 1/2 wrap on the belt, the "bung you see is for an additional pulley, it will also serve as a snout support!
