I don't think you'll get banned for that.
From what I read up to the point you two started arguing and posting emails it looked like you tried to get clarification and in the end found a better price. I'd have bought from the lower priced place too. Screw em. It's your money and it's America. Spend it how you want.

Re: Lost My 65
Thanks for the positive posts guys.
I bought from summit because all the positive I hear about them in these forums. I was already hesitant to buy from cpp because all the nightmare stories I've heard about them. Even recently, Member lucifer has had months of issues getting his order resolved. Even Jeff's signature says; 'To please contact him before slinging mud on cpp in these forums.'. I read often in these forums that cpp has good products, but their customer service sucks. Although, I hear Jeff tries hard to make things right. I've read good about the other big vendors such as summit. Thanks again. Posted via Mobile Device

I want to get one thin coat all one color.
Then I'll take a body part one by one and fix it right as I go.

Re: Lost My 65
I liked the color before, it was just really faded in places. I guess I could of added just a little more violet, but I like this color too.

Re: Lost My 65
I've had a few ask me what my wheels are and what size they are.
The brand is Modern. They are 6-lug. But I don't know if they have any particular name or anything more about them, because they were on the truck when I bought it back. They are just shy of 12" wide. 295/50 R15 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...83#post5199983 I lowered it some when I originally owned it by loosening the torsion bars. (It's a 65 on a 62 frame) The previous owner lowered it even more in the front, and also in the back. I haven't looked closely, so I'm not sure what he did to lower the back. It does have air shocks in the rear, so I can get the back to go back up by adding air. Posted via Mobile Device

Wow, congrats on finding your 65! I remember reading this a long time ago thinking that this was a noble cause, but realisticallly thinking that it would be a pretty long shot. What a cool story!

Re: Lost My 65
I'm currently going through my wiring.
I think I tell in this thread about an electrical fire I had back in 84. I was 19, so I wired just what was needed to get myself going. I never got around to doing anything more before I sold it in 86/87. Anyway... I'm currently going through my wiring. I've got it all out and cleaning things up. Looking at the wiring now, I'm pretty positive the fire was related to the Ammeter. Most wires related to it are the ones that are totally fried. I will NOT be hooking the Ammeter back up.

Re: Lost My 65
I will not be hooking up the ammeter.
So I've been reading threads on the topic of a Voltmeter. I found one member who did a nice job replacing the ammeter gauge with a 80's voltmeter. It looked good. But I saw some white led digital gauges on summit that I think would blend in nicely. I think I'm going to do mine this way:

Re: Lost My 65
So, I got my refund from Summit. No questions asked.
That's one reason I bought from them. Second, I did all my own research here in these forums to find my exact needs, and emailed a vendor that happen to be in one of the threads at the time regarding all this talk about whether the cpp Non Modular drop spindles would move my wheels out over what they are now. That vendor said they Would Not move my wheels out. After doing more research and shopping, I still wasn't convinced they wouldn't move my wheels out. I heard nothing but good about summit from members here, so I wanted to buy from someone who had a good reputation. I was told by more than just a few members to not buy directly from Cpp, it would be a nightmare, and I'd end up losing money if they even ever let me return it. There's even another recent case involving a member here who has had months of back and forths with cpp. As I understand it, Jeff at Cpp here in these forums is a great guy and does a lot to make things right. Finally, another huge reason to buy from summit is they often list things cheaper. They only charged me $11 for shipping the whole heavy package - spindles, rotors, bearings, and all. Oh! and that's not all. They even awarded me $20 Summit Bucks. Now take that as an additional savings. Ship it all back within 90 days, and you pay nothing but the original shipping cost. For me that was $11 bucks. Well worth it to keep from being stuck with drop spindles that didn't work. I do want to let you guys know that regardless of what some vendors say, the Non-Modular drop spindles would have moved my wheels out 3/8" per side over drums.

Re: Lost My 65
I'm still trying to get everything wrapped up on the 66.
In the mean time; I still keep thinking about things I want to do with my 65. Back when I first bought it, it was a longbed fleetside. But when I wrecked it in 84, I built it back up as a shortbed stepside. Earlier this year I ran across an ad on craigslist of a guy needing to get rid of some 66 truck parts. He had a cab with a 3-speed auto column, and a couple longbed fleetside bed sides, and some other stuff. The column interested me, but as a package deal, I grabbed quite a bit of the stuff along with the two bedsides. Since then, I've been mildly banging around the idea of also building a shortbed fleetside. Today I acquired more for the idea. An older fella was parting out his totalled 65. I went to look at it a few weeks back, and saw a few things I might like, but nothing that grabbed my attention. Later that evening, he called asking if I'd be willing to help him tear away all the damaged front, and get the motor freed up to start for a potential buyer. He asked if I'd to it in exchange for parts. I said sure. So, the short story is, I have all I need but the wood to build a fleetside bed. I'll put this stuff away for a possible future project. The Tailgate is blasted and primed - very straight with only a couple small dings. The bed front is also clean. One fender well has a little rot. The bed strips are stainless steel. This worked out well for him also, he sold the motor and tranny today. I'm happy, and he's happy. Here's some pics:

Good thing you found it!!!
I too have lost a vehicle near and dear to my heart. But unlike you I have not been able to find it. Been a year and a half now. I still have the VIN but no plate and no clue where to even start looking. I sold it in SC but I haven't got a clue how to find it. I miss it so much Just wish I knew of someway to get her back
