As far as the steering wheel, I'm pretty sure most chevy's have the same spline there's a few different ones, but camaro wheels fit our stock columns. Here's a thread that talks about some different steering wheels. One guys says 88-up are the same. Maybe this'll help ya out some.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...steering+wheel

Na. Ima leave it..if it was on the outside I would fix it. But it only being on the firewall, I'm not too concerned about it.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

i managed to get a little more done.i did some more blocking and got both box sides ,the cowl, and pass door panel in high build.after a little sanding one box side is ready for paint and after i fill a low spot on the other it will be ready to spray..im finally on the down hill with the box side adventure.

Looking good! Yeah paint work always comes out good when you put in the time to do the prep work.

Sweet MC/Booster combo! I'm wanting something like that on mine when I get to that point. Gonna convert mine to disc/disc on of these days.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

so after blocking a couple last spots on the box side i still wasnt happy with the upper body line .it was driving me nuts.it was probably good enough for paint but i couldnt sleep until i did something about it.so for anyone thats reading this build thread and have decided to cut down a long box into a short im really going to save you some shaping time.it is really really hard to get that body line consistent and straight.sanding blocks are just too hard to shape with.what i did was bought a paint roller with a plastic inner.take a torch and melt down the outer fuzzy part.when it cools enough to handle heat one side enough so its soft enough to shape.then on a good part of your box press the heated soft side of the roller into the contour.let it cool and you now have the perfect shaped sanding block.in my pics you can see the low spots that were just not quite perfect.i wish i made this when i was shaping the lower body lines on my doors.it would have saved so much time.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

after what seams years of blocking im finally happy enough with the outside of both box sides to spray them.im just going to hold off until i get the inner sides hacked up and skinned with new sheet metal.also tonight i finished my inner door panels.used the john deere blitz black and did the insert with the speckle paint.sorry for the pics.they were with my cell phone.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

so i finally gained some on the build this week.i managed to do some sheet metal trimming on the inner panels of both box sides, ordered in 3 lengths of 1x1 and 3 lengths of1x2 steel tubing for my box sides and floor frame.in the pictures you can see when i trimmed the inner box sides and on the underside i spot welded 1x1 tubing to give it plenty of strength to stay upright when i weld them to the bed floor frame.for the openings im going to mount some stainless or aluminum for a nice clean look.i also welded my front tubing in place for the custom front bed panel.on top of all this i hung the tail gate and started fixing dents.the old girl was well used.not sure if i posted this before but in the pics you can see the custom tailgate latch release i made when i shaved the original one.really feels like im getting somewhere again\
