Re: 69 cst-10

Well i would consider mine slow as well seeing as it has sat for over 6 years and only has 60 miles on it. Thanks for taking the time to go through it.

Re: 69 cst-10

While finishing the Alum bed floor i decided to build a Battery tray to bolt on the frame just behind the cab. Turned out better then i thought. Just going to get a piece of rubber to put under the battery. I also bent a piece of alum to set the battery on so it will protect it from any rocks or whatnot. My youngest brother will be in town next week and we will get the trans in and hope to take it to the 1/8 mile race they have in SD (Race legal) and see what kind of times i can get. may be spank a few imports. Will do some tuning also.

Re: 69 cst-10

AH S#*T, its back. While i was at a friends shop using his lift, another guy i know showed up. He is building a 800hp 468 (14.1 BB2x)/th400 and going with a 5k stall. He had a brand new (4-5 runs on the street) Dalenzie 3500 10in stall ($300). Lets just say it woke this RAT up a little so ill be looking into a new cam in the near future. Old one was about 2400 or so and 13in. I took it easy and waited to get rolling before i eased into it. Going sideways @ 40 without even trying to. It hits very nicely.

Re: 69 cst-10

Im glad shes back together so you can enjoy her some more.

With that 17'' cyclone electric fan it was hard to tell in the pics, but do you have it offset to fit past the water pump? Im not sure if I need a short water pump, I only have like 3.5'' of clearance between the pump and rad. On the flex a lite website the fan looks like its flat and is described as 4'' depth, only way I figure it will work is if the fan isnt as thick at the edges.

Re: 69 cst-10

The fan guard has a small rub mark from the WP pulley bolt. I have a slight offset but my Rad is off to one side to minimize it. I have the 10in on always and the 17in set at 195on/ 180 off so i usually sit about 190. Here is a pic of the current configuration. It is close and had some rubbing (not now) but it works. I should have mounted the motor back another inch or two.

Re: 69 cst-10

Im going to do the same but use a 16'' and 12'' added later. I also wish I had moved it back an inch but I didnt want to cut my drive shaft or move my tranny crossmember.

So with that stall does it feel like youre revving high while just cruising, or is that un-affected at all and just helps for a quicker launch?

Also what relay did you use? did you use a dual fan relay?

Re: 69 cst-10

It revs higher to move but not a crazy amount. Cruising isnt bad but i only put 10 miles on this with a few stop signs. I have a single relay for the big fan. Like i said, the small one is always on so its hard wired to the ignition.

Oh yea, it felt good when a guy started rolling down his window in his Titan. I knew what was coming. Next light. Is that a Big Block? I couldn't help but smile. Green: Rolled to about 20 and squeezed the throttle.

Re: 69 cst-10

Did you use a one wire alternator? If not could you explain how you wired it, somehow I lose my instructions to the painless harness.

Re: 69 cst-10

I actually found my instructions so Im set there, but have another question....lol

When you wired your electric fan in did you use that gray wire in the harness? Is it switch activated? because when I have the key on that wire doesnt have power, and I remember seeing a fan switch wire in the harness for the inside of the cab.

Re: 69 cst-10

Gray/Whi 903 (ignition side) needs to connect to Gray/Whi 901 (to Fan). there is a red wired sealed fuse that will need to me somewhere in the mix. I ran the fuse on the Rad support just before the fan thermostat. Hope that fixes it.

Re: 69 cst-10

Mine must be different or I am not seeing something. I have a 901 gray/white electric fan (headlight) and a 901 gray/white accessories electric fan switch. In the instructions it says that the 901 accessories is an activation wire for the relay. but have no clue what Im supposed to do with it. Neither wires have key on power which is what the fan relay is supposed to have from that gray wire...

Re: 69 cst-10

Well I guess thats what happens when you wire your truck then leave it it for a bit, I had forgotten that there was another wire by the cig lighter wire that was fan switch 903 gray/white that had power. I just hard wired the two together rather than having it on a switch.

Re: 69 cst-10

So i went through two Mallory 6AL boxes. Possibly from the crappy distributor. I decided to go with the PerTronix Igniter III set up and ditch the Box all together. New Distributor and coil coming in this coming week. Then the bumpers and grill. Then, time to work on the body.

Re: 69 cst-10

Getting so Pi$$ed. almost ready to sell it. Today went for a short ride. Have been hearing a clunk in the rear when i let off and get back into it. Today i found out why when the drive shaft let go. Found one universal cap missing a nut and it came loose. I dropped it into 2nd, hammered it and bang. Wonder how much itll cost to fix the drive shaft now. Got $900 into the damn thing and now its bent a little. The wife will flip if i tell her i need a new one so ill try to work around that and get it fixed if i can.

Re: 69 cst-10

I expected things to pop up, just last few times it has been $800+ to fix. And i'm really wanting a daily driver and am realizing this isn't going to be one. I have been driving my motorcycle daily for the last 2.5 years and really getting tired of not having a vehicle. Wife drives her new 2010 silverado. I found a 2000 reg cab with a 5.3 supercharged for under 10K. Tempting. I don't know now. just been causing problems.

Thats just like me man, Ive been On my gixxer for the past few years and just now finally got my truck ready. But things will break, youre just finding the weak links. Stick with the old girl, a few more tweeks and it will be perfect.

Re: 69 cst-10

Wow, Wild, when did you get back? I missed you. Ill be calling IEDLS about the shaft. I emailed them and they only said, "Call me, ask for ...." so i hope they continue their customer service with me. Im just pissed because i possibly could have prevented it but who knows. When i got it cut, the guy told me he didn't balance it because he didn't have a yoke to do it with. Ill call them up soon. Just riding in it bouncing around getting all the discuss looks and then the few smiles from guys who you see with huge smiles looking at it as you drive past makes it worth it.
