Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
No they are not door is just sitting there, its just held in by the latch.
It was getting late and I just had to check it out before I was done for the day. The door fits in the hole but is nowhere near lining up, still have a little trimming to do and alot of adjusting. |

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Ok, I could not wait until the weekend I had to know if this was going to work.
I got home from work drilled a few holes, now I have a swinging 4th door. Still needs alot of work and adjustment but it works and fits pretty good as well. Last edited by oilyrag80; 04-22-2013 at 09:44 PM. |

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Did you move the hinges closer together like on the 3rd door?

I think it's time for a video, doors open, doors shut (think of this as being said from that guy on 'Karate Kid', the original one "Wipe wax on ,wipe off." )
Just kiddin, sorta, looks fantastic ! Bravo. |

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
That is pretty awesome that it worked that way!
I like the way you did your door better than the way I did mine and my brothers. On both of them I used the rear of a right door and then chopped the front of a left door for the hinge section. I thought there was a reason why I moved the hinges closer on my Burb to match the 3rd door, but i guess it was moot. I may just copy you for the hinges on my brothers door, and save me some welding. After I bought my brake, I started to think that it would have been easier to use Suburban stuff and just flip it. But we had a real hard time finding one that we could get parts from. Donor parts are definitely the way to go.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Yea the door was eaiser then I thought it would be I am still going to use part of a passenger door as part of the finishing details. I was planning on moving the upper hinge down but when I mocked it up it looked like it would work so I gave it a shot. I used as much off the doner sub as I could I was just lucky my buddy had one i could cut up. The weather is about to get ugly around here I just hope I can keep up the pace.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Hey man. You mind posting a picture of the header area above your 3rd (right rear) door where the cabs are welded together? On mine I ended up cutting all the way to the B-pillar and adding that section from another pick-up. I checked on my suburban compared to my brothers cab and they both are different than above the front doors.
This is proving to be a pain to get lined up just right, by the way.
