Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
That flap is designed to be unscrewed so you can clean the leaves and junk out of the fresh air passage, but no one ever does or it got covered in undercoating so they could not see the screw. You are lucky, all I found were dead things.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
that's not even close to bad. actually looks very good.
i had to replace the bottom 12'' of my cab, floors and doors every picture you posted, the damage was caused by wet leaves and junk down the cowl vent. that's why i recommend shaving the cowl vent in every tf build.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
At least you got a wrench for your trouble.
I've seen a lot worse but was real lucky with mine as the floor had the most damage. Kim |

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
First thing I do to every task force truck I get is rip those flaps off.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
Side cowls Make for a good speaker pocket, won't need the vent. And most of it is unseen anyway, right. It's behind the inner fender panel.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
They make for a decent sound box once you close off the cowl vent and the holes at the bottom. Big Bertha is all sealed up and thats what I used them for.

Are you getting any time to work on the hot rod or still putting in the big hours at work?

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
Sorry guys,
Had some drama. We have done some work but not much. Anyone thinking of sandblasting their car or truck I recommend picklex20. Its been 6 weeks since blasting and no rust, no paint or primer.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
progress is progress. the overtime will buy more truck parts
i used pickleX20 on the bed of my truck after sandblasting it i did all the fab work to add the trunk and left it in the corner of my barn for 6 years the bed was rust free for 4 years, the last couple of years it got some surface rust it also works quite well on bare metal that your storing in the shop

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
Hey Shadow,
Since you're relatively local to me, who did your blasting? Would you recommend them? Seems like they were careful not to warp anything, is that accurate? |

Here is a link to there website. Hope thats OK admin, if not delete. Brian was the guy I talked to. Price was 1100. They use aluminum ozide for media. They do not remove bondo unless you tell them to, it takes time to remove if applied correctly.
