Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
The darker blue has a nice hue, but the light blue/turquoise isn't doing it for us. Part of the challenge is that we want to carry the silver through the interior and feel the need to tie it in on the exterior also...fortunately we'll have plenty of time to fiqure it out. Thanks for the pic!

Hey Chad, thanks! 2' of 3x3x1/4 angle (1'/side), 34" of 2 1/2x2 1/2x1/4 square, 12" of 2" id receiver tube, some scrap plate...roughly $40 or so.

Man Clem, we would love too...but, are in the process of trying to move by the middle of Nov. Every weekend has been and will be spent packing our crap up and trying to clean up the old house for resale

Just to let everyone know, When I heard the burb start up I nearly wet my pants... What a great sleeper.. If you pull up next to this guy then I would just wave and nod.. This is a very serious machine.. Great work across the board.. Even better when seen in person..

might be too late for this, but could you post an under dash shot of how the notches in the firewall came out?
what did you do about the firewall pad, and did they get in the way of anything?

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Sorry about the delay in answering, just getting back into the swing of things. We've haven't done anymore on the interior...still need to do some door sill/rocker panel/floor work on the passenger side. Here's what it looks like...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
So we're pretty much moved onto the new place and getting settled down. We've put a couple thousand miles on the burb, driving it as much as we can...total blast!
Well, up until last Fri night ...cruising down the freeway with the wife and all of a sudden BAM, followed by a lot of other racket and a serious vibration Drove a mile down the side of the freeway to an off ramp (at idle, with lots of noise)...couldn't find anything obvious there but drove it onto a trailer and got it home. Found that the carrier pin had sheared both ends off and the loose side walked into the R&P

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
So...knowing that the 12B wasn't going to last in there, I picked up a D60 from a friend that had swapped it out of his rock crawler. It has been converted to big bearing 9in. axle ends with chevy discs and came with 2 sets of 35 spline Moser's. (no carrier or R&P) Thinking Trak-lok and 3.52s
A couple hours with the torch and grinder took care of the old brackets and it's ready to go to the machine shop for shortening. I'm planning on just narrowing it to the stock 62" WMS to WMS...but how cool would it be to narrow it a bit more, tub the rear, widen the ralleys, and stick some meats in there...now would be the time

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
where would you have your ralleys widened at? i was thinking the same thing on my truck! i want to get a set of rims like you got and widen two of them to 15x12 by adding 4in. to the backspacing and get some mickeys! anyways nice place you guys got, dont have to worry about the neighbors anymore, so thats a plus!!
