Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Could you tell us the process you used and type of paint, additives etc you used on the door panels? Also, how do you protect the paint when you re-install the vent windows in the doors?

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Thanks for the compliments guys!
On the door panels, I just scrubbed them with soap and water, then cleaned them with wax and grease remover. I then just sprayed them with SEM Super White. I didn't use any clear or anything on top. I have used SEM for many years, and it has always wore quite well. As far as installing the vent windows...I just try to be careful. Believe it or not, when installing doors, fenders, etc., I always install that stuff by myself, and I never even tape any edges. I've always pre-fit my parts in the bare metal stage. By the time the parts have been painted, they've been on and off several times, so I pretty much know what to expect, and how to go about it, so installation really isn't a big deal. When installing parts, it's a good idea to mask off any painted areas from potential damage. Not that I never mess anything up, but as they say..."It's not how good you are, it's how well you can hide your mistakes" LOL!!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Starting to look like something! It got to the point where I had to put some wheels on it. I wasn't able to stomach the crusty chrome wagon wheels anymore!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Bought a correctly code carb off of ebay. Just came back from SMI. (sean murphy induction) I thought I had a before pic of the carb, but can't seem to find it. Sean did a beautiful job restoring this carb!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
It seems a shame to make the floor look so nice, and then cover it up! Putting in some factory style tar paper. Cleaned up and repaired the original floor leveler mats.

We decided to go with carpet instead of a rubber mat. Also got the seat belts and sill plates installed.

Purchased an NOS insert. Paint was all coming off, so I blasted it clean, and repainted it.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Insert and bowtie installed. I had tried a different method of painting the letters, and wasn't happy with the results. So I bought some vinyl letters and used them for a reverse stensle. Much more correct looking.
