Travis, That looks like a ton of fun! It's awesome you and your Dad got to do that together.

How well did the truck ride and drive? Any issues you want to change or correct now that you have a couple of miles on it?

It was a ton of fun, and wish I had the time to do it every year.

Truck rode and drove nice. I have yet to get a sway bar on the front, so leaned a little more than usual when going 75 on a curve in the freeway... but was still fine. Might try some HQ shocks when budget allows, but for ride purposes, the KYB's work great.

The rear was a hair firmer than I want, since I am running shorter than a 30" tall tire. I have to put a little more air in the bag to bring it to ride height. I am going to make a spacer to put in there, so I can run lower bag pressure. I can remove it when if I go to a 22" wheel in the back. The front rode great! Nice and smooth.

I also have a Summit column in the truck, and really don't like it. At the time, it was an affordable option, but wish I would have just saved and bought an Ididit. The tilt isn't very firm, the shifter wobbles and just feels inexpensive. The Ididit feels much more tight and firm.

Overall, very happy with everything. Just a matter of fine tuning some things.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Let me start by saying I love this truck! I saw it at the Good Guys show in Pleasanton. So how do you like the window kit? I am considering the powered version. Is wind noise better without the wings? How are they as far as rattling and rolling all the way down?

Thanks man!

I really like the window kit, and really didn't notice any wind noise at all. I never had wing windows in the truck, so don't have a direct comparison on a '63. On my squarebody I use to have, I remember wind noise, and this truck doesn't seem to have that.

They don't rattling and felts fit tight. The felt does take some work to get shaped right to the window, but overall good. Right now they are tight to roll down, but think it will loosen up as the felt wear in a little. As of now, they don't roll down all the way, and leave about 1" of glass before the crank gets tight. I might be able to crank farther, but don't want to force it. I have to get in there and take a look. I am sure it is something that can be fixed. Even if not, I am Ok with the 1", and in my opinion, still better than having vent windows. I don't like them, especially on the '63, since it makes the regular window so small.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

I agree on the windows. I've seen a video of the power ones going all the way down so they probably do, just tight. Thanks for the info!
So do you sell the radiator you have in your truck? I'm looking to switch to an LS myself and I'm looking to get a radiator soon.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

As I am getting the truck ready for SEMA, I am taking care of some small things I wanted to change. I finally got a chance to install my new Ididit column. I previously had a Summit column, and didn't like it at all, and decided to bite the bullet and buy the Ididit. What a difference! Such a quality piece.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

It is a 33" length. I have to go longer, because the shift collar is longer, and can't push the column quite as far into the dash. Worked out really well though.

No inner fenders up front at the moment. I am going to make some partial ones that cover the top of the tire, since I plan to drive it a lot.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Thinking of going to this wheel, probably in a 20", maybe a 22". I just like a little tire, and with the 22's, it gets a little rubber-bandish up front.

What do you guys think. The actual color on the center will be more of a titanium and less gold colored. Brushed spokes and brushed outer. Then I will brush all the trim to match, like the door handles and mirrors.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Thanks! I think I will end up with 20's due to having the tire sizes I want and cost. The old wheels will be moving to the new 90 C1500 project.

I would be interested in selling them, and just going with a new set for the project truck. Shoot me a PM with what truck you have and we'll see if they will work out well for you.

Decided to go with this new directional version instead. Same brushed and Titanium finish though. Just want something a little different.
