Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Here is pics of the $350 bed I bought, payed more for it than I did the entire shortbed 4x4
Has some surface rust on the side but the blaster should take care of it.Now the other short fleet bed is getting parted out... Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 03-28-2007 at 08:57 PM. |

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I wouldn't sand blast the side. Sand the heck out of it with some 80 grit on the DA.
Then use some steel wool and navel jelly on any rust that is still there.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
If your old bed got the nickname cheese-grater what would you call mine? Meat-Grinder? Nice find for $350 on the bed. Now find me one for that price

Well,I hate rusty bolts. On the brite side,I did manage to get one wheel tub off.Tomorrow I have 3 bolts to unbolt and then the passenger side bed panel comes off.Hopefully as soon as I get some primer I can blast the wheel tub and primer it

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Man this is one heck of a build, nice detailed write up. I have recently started on a 70 short step 4x4 and I am shaking in my seat right now just itching to get back into it. Need some nice rear fenders, know where I can get some? Keep up the good work!!!

Nice work! I am glad you saved that truck from the crusher. It will really be a sharp one when you are done. I love the look of the lift and the 35's

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
your hardcore...all I did was cut down a tree, put up two new swings for the kids today!
I'm hoping to finely start making some progress this week, I took leave all week just to work on the truck! Then the Colonel calls me in on Friday afternoon and tells me that I have to run the Emergency ops center Sunday night (7pm-7am) so Monday is half shot now. don't forget our lovely pics... did you get the camera fixed?

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well, now 2 pistons are in permanently......and the bed panel is off.Now all the bed parts are sitting in the bed thats on the truck.
And... Nope,I havent got the camera back yet.I hope to have it back in time to show the pretty 350 all painted orange with all the goodies. Also hope to get it back before I get the bed together so I can do a FAQ thread. And also so I can show the bed in primer..... BTW,Mike, you have a pm regarding cab mounts. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 04-14-2007 at 08:41 PM. |
