Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

So Ive decided Im going to represent the Old Pickup community at the GTO Show in Bend Oregon on Memorial Day Weekend... Ive got a few final touches to get done so I can drive this thing over there. Im actually a Member of the Goat Herd of Oregon and have a 67 GTO Hardtop but its next on the Restoration Schedule so Hopefully It will be done next year for the GTO show so I can actually show up in a GTO. I hope they will let me Park the truck on the inside of the show and if they dont Im going to park the truck in the For Sale lot with a Huge Price Tag so no one will want to buy it. I sure dont want to start another truck at this point...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

We got the Bed Lined today... With great Effort from my Wife Linda and her skills with the tape we got it preped before my Son got up and then he Drained the Compressor and I started mixing the Hippo Tintable Bed Liner. He did a great job shooting it. So Here are a few pictures of it...

Is it that glossy or still wet? Unusual for liner - I like it.

It just turned out glossy.. I put one in my Sons 64 Short Wide and it was glossy also. I used a product called Hippo Tintable Bed Liner. Its got the same paint in it as I used on the truck just without the binder. At least that is what my Paint guy told me. I sure do like the fact that it covers up most of the 40 some odd years of sins in that bed, Scratches, small dents and such. I cant wait to see this thing with the new rims and tires im getting put on Monday...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Being my Wife is in Atlanta Georgia till Wed. I decided to spend a little more time in the Garage and put my Eyebrow Panels on the back of the truck. They went on without much of a fight. I did take it out today for its first spin around the block. I was a little disapointed about the Transmission... Its the one thing I cheaped out on when it comes to the driveline and its a piece of Crap... It sticks in First and when it does finally shift it just slips like crazy.... Im looking at a 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives $$$$$ but they say they will hold up to 500HP and 450LB of Torque so my 350HP 327 should not give it much trouble. I guess I could pay now or pay later... Anyway here are a couple of pictures of the Back of the Truck with the Eyebrow Moldings Installed..

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

We took the tranny out and its being rebuilt as we speak... We put the tires and wheels on and I cant wait to put it back down so I can see what they will really look like. The Back tires are where they will set because the jack stands are under the Diff.. I like the spacing and Im glad I didnt go any bigger. Here are a few pics of it.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Thanks On the Compliments, Im kinda waiting on pins and needles for the verdict on the tranny tomorrow. They are going to tear into it first thing tomorrow Morning and im expecting a phone call about noon to find out how bad it is... Im guessing a total rebuild... But I dont think I would trust anything less...

You know what the sad part about this is??? I used my 98 Dodge Dakota to take the 67 Chevy's Tranny to the Local Tranny Shop.... I cant be letting that happen too often...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Got the News from the tranny guy yesterday and its not good. Its being completely rebuilt but its going to be a lot tougher than it was stock. He's putting in all the goodies and a really tough torque converter... So Hopefully by this weekend it will be drivable again.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Took My Wife for her first ride in the 67 Yesterday and he told me she really likes it. She commented on the Ride, the comfort of the Seat and how quiet it is going down the road. Im glad I made the choices I did with the 700R4 and the 3.07/1 Gears in the Diff. Its definitly not a race truck but it sure goes down the road smooth at higher speeds. Of coarse when the Front end gets aligned and the Tranny gets adjusted properly it should be even better. I have a serious Fueling issue that I need to fix before I can get out on the road with this thing. I guess the filler neck has to drastic of a bend in it and the fuel is wanting to shut off when I try to fill it. I have it in my mind that I am going to have to remove the filler neck from where it is and make a direct over the tank nozzle to fix the problem which is not a small fix. Anyway unless I want to haul 3 gas cans and a funnel with me Im not going anywhere very far until I fix it. Its just time and Fabrication..
