Re: 67 C-10 project.
Hi Jess! welcome to the site and thanks for checking out my build! i haven't done anything too exciting on the truck over the last few days. busy stripping paint off the cab and getting it ready to sandblast the interior of it this weekend i hope. i keep looking at my front crossmember and i'd love to take it all apart and get it cleaned up and replace all of the bushings in it but it'll have to wait. I've been looking over my parts truck to see what i need and what i'm going to get rid of. i'll get some more pictures up this weekend of the little bit of progress that i'm making. i promised my wife i'd not buy anyparts at all for the month of April, so i'm sure i'm gonna die...probably before my birthday..which is only on the 10th. lol

Re: 67 C-10 project.
well today i did mostly yard work to keep the wife happy. but i was able to get the tranny off, and the driveshafts out and off the frame tonight. had to take a break and watch my Jayhawks crush the Spiders!! Rock Chalk Baby!!
Continuing to get the frame cleaned up. Does anybody know if the tranny crossmember is the same on a 3/4 ton Automatic and my 1/2 ton with a 4 speed? the reason i ask is the one on my frame appears to have had a torch put to the rivits for some reason. they cut them off and so it's barely held on. no idea why they (po) would have done that...

Re: 67 C-10 project.
well this weekend was great. I helped out a guy here that had his truck stolen recently and it got stripped and he got the frame and cab back. So he came over and looked at my parts truck and he ended up buying it from me, and i also sold him my 327 motor. i'll miss it but it will go to a good home, and his truck originally had a 327 motor in it, and the date on the block even matched his truck! Maybe it was meant to be. I was happy to help him out and see him get his truck back on the road. i get some parts money, and the truck is out of the driveway! Wife is happy. everybody was thrilled! anyways, got some more paint stripped off of my cab. nothing picture worthy.

Re: 67 C-10 project.
still stripping paint, but i started primering some parts of the cab as well so that it won't get any surface rust. also, today i ordered a complete cab rubber kit from GMC Pauls. will be able to do the doors and windows and everything. tried to get the rear end conversion kit here in town at BowTie Bits, but they were out of them and don't expect them for a week or two. Bummer. hoping to get the new rear end under it and the new wheels and tires on it soon! with the weather permitting, tomorrow i might get the fender, and beds swapped on the parts truck and it towed off to it's new home!

Re: 67 C-10 project.
oh man i'm beat! today at 9 a.m. we (the swmbo and I) got the call that the board member that bought my parts truck was coming to get it at 1 pm! yikes! So , we got the hood off, the cowl off, the drivers fender off and inner wheel well off, and the windshield and reat window out (without breaking) and 7 of the bolts holding the bed on all off by 1! getting faster at it! LOL. we manually lifted the bed off and then manually carried the other bed out of the shop and set it on the gold truck. then we pushed it up on the trailer and the trailer broke where the ramp attaches so we had to jack it up and stack wood under it and the push it on the reat of the way. it was an adventure. then if that wasn't enough i sanded and stripped more paint off the cab for 3 more hours! yikes, my back is killing me! All in the name of progress! More pictures tomorrow!

Re: 67 C-10 project.
Hard on Parts - yup sure did! hard to believe that i drove it home just a few months ago!
yesterday my son and I working on a welding project for a need that we had and for the welding practice! we built a welding cart for my little mig welder. i got the 1" square stock and 3/16" plate and casters at the Yard Store here in town. took us most of the day but it was fun! My son had a good time welding. Some of the welds are pretty ugly, but it seems to be plenty sturdy! i'll have some pictures after we get a coat of paint or two on it.

Re: 67 C-10 project.
Old school frame guys would say sling a truckers chain on the crown of the bend and pull it. If you don't have floor pots, and properly braced HEAVY duty floor jack and chains wrapped around the jack frame will do the trick too.
