Just got home from the shop, tore down the rear end finally, I had to torch out the center pin holding the spiders, all that's left is to remove the side bearing and pinion gear.

The diff was WASTED, I bet I would have got a few hundred miles before it had some real issues, so in retrospect I am glad I decided to get it powdered.

Man, what is it with people these days! I work in a body shop, hell I have even managed body shops, but these people out there that do very similar work, the way they conduct business is just friggin outrageous. This is now two damn times I have been burnt when it comes to subletting some work on this damn truck! I must have a kick me sign on my back.

First it was the media blasting of the body, my ass still hurts on that one, now I waste 3 hrs saturday bringing my parts to a powdering company that I felt was reputable enough to handle my work, and the price was fair. Now two days later, he emails me, oh the blasting took longer. so first estimate over email with very descriptive photos and list of parts goes from 450-500, to max 600 when I left based on booth heat time for the frame rails to today 800-900 depending on color. Hell we havent even started powdering, by friday it could be 1100-1200. WTF!!!!!!!!

Ok rant over, I just done get this ****, how is it even legal?

Yeah, I just emailed him and very constructively voice my concerns and said hey, we have to draw a line in the sand so to speak on the price, if you go over then YOU go over not me, this isnt an open check kind of job. When I say that i need 6 hrs to bump your door and paint I dont call once the doors apart and say oh you know its going to be 10 now. That just isnt how its done, but I am seeing a pattern, you fish, they take the bait, you bring your parts, then they change the game. Bull****!

For sure Im going to walk, I will let him get me a price on the now RAW frame, let him powder it, and take my work elsewhere. Even if it costs me more time and money, you dont treat people like this. If I where rich I would say screw it and thats what he is counting on, but I will call his bluff, and I know ppl in the biz, I could have sent him referral work too. I guess not now

Got my Posi today, hoping the rear will be ready at the powderer later this week

Motive bearing kit showed up today Timken bearings , with seals, everything, nice lil kit,got it for 140 shipped.

Got some work done, or should we say RE work done this weekend, the new rocker panels I welded on 12 years ago came back off, to reveal what I knew was hiding on the inners, yup you guess it RUST. Anyhow, good thing I took them off, they were the ****ty thin kind, not e coated, and out of the 30 plus welds on each lets just say maybe 10 held in place.

Broke out the blaster and went to town!

You can see I need to replace the lower hinge post pieces. Already ordered and received them today from Goodmark

On a side note, got a call friday that all my parts were just about done being powdered, only to be called 2 hours later telling me the powder he ordered was mixed wrong, and all my parts are the F ing wrong color. Wow there went two whole weeks!

Today I called a local trans shop about lining up my new "used" posi into my rear end with the new bearing set, got a quote of about 350. I did also find out two things, the first being that I can not use my 3.73 gear set on this posi, the ring gear on a series 4 carrier is thicker than on the previous series 3 open carrier, and second no matter how good they line it up,using the used gears, its going to hum. So new gears here I come.

Been a while since my last update. Many things have happened, getting screwed over again by the powder coater. Coming down with an infection, that then turned to pneumonia, that then landed me in the hospital. That was about 3 wasted weeks

Finally got my parts back from powder while I was sick. Honestly I am not too overly impressed with the quality, some parts are top notch and some are so so. Got things going on the rear end, since the used posi had a 3.08 gearset it was a different series carrier than the original with a 3.73 so I Had to order up new Ring & Pinion, sent the rear end out and got it built with all new bearings and picked it up Friday night. Spent about 25 hours reassembling the frame this weekend. And that gets us to present day. Pix Very Soon, Internet SUX here at work

Thanks! I really like how it turned out, too bad about 30 minutes ago I put the tires on and moved it, rolled on top of one of them low lying floor hoists, smoked the trailing arm x member into the hydraulic cylinder, took the powder right off

Next on the to do is get the engine out to the rebuilder for inspection and reassy. Get the 700r4 all set to mate to the engine and mock it up into this roller.

Now time to get crackin on the body!
