Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Thank you for the kind words. I am going to have a hard choice on the colors. I like them both. Was hoping these renders could help me with a solid decision but has not. I wish I could see the red interior through the glass. That would help.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Here is one with the black roof and a light background. Also this one has the drip rail moulding. I am pretty sure I am going all black. The white does look good but with the red interior I am scared there will be too many colors close to each other.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Was just thinking of your running an auto you should run the 68-69 camero disc brake pedal that's wide with a trim ring to match

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I found someone with a 1967 Oldsmobile tilt-telescopic steering column. it has the 4 way flasher and no ignition in the column so I figured id try it on my column. I found out that you can simply remove the top from the tilt and simply use the top pieces from the tilt-telescopic and install. even the wiring harness just plugs in the same. The only mod is the light for the gear selector and light which should be no problem. Here are the pictures of the bottom part. If i set the column back to the gauges this should still be useable I hope and not too close to the driver. when I am finished ill put my seats in and check it out.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got the column all done for the telescopic tonight. Here is how it turned out. I think that it turned out very nice. ill have to put my seats and my column in the truck now to see how this works and how close it gets to the driver. I may have to find a flatter ( less dish) wheel. If I need one I would like one off of a 1965-66 impala telescopic column and just adapt my GMC horn button to it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
two more that show it short and long. I broke my shift indicator piece so I will have to get a new one. But that all works nicely and accurately too.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
here is how it looks in the truck. I think the wheel is too far back. I might put the seat in it to get a feel. if I change wheels it will be to the one below. it is more flat and made for the telescopic column.

...and a few more with the driver seat installed. the wheel is not as close as I thought. ill have to think about the steering wheels for a bit.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The whole cab is coming back down to metal in feb. James (nuke1) is going to do the truck after the shotty work I had done in 2010. So it will all need to be repainted. That's why I'm doing these last few mods. After the cab is done this time that will be it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I have done a little searching and found that this wheel will also work on this column. Its from a 66 cadillac. I may buy one. I like that it is 3 spoke. A little closer to the original wheel.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I measured the column distance from the dash to the top of the wheel. the tilt telescopic column fits great and works just as it should and looks proper. I moved the column back and did some measurements. I used my 70 without tilt in stock position and my 67 with pushed back column with for the measurements. I can move the wheel from the top of the gauges from 11.5" to 14". The 70's wheel from stock sits 12" from the same spot. I can move it 0.5" further back from where it was stock. no gain at all. when I get the other wheels ill do this again. I think the impala wheel will sit 1" - 2" closer to the gauges just because it is designed that way. If not I guess it will just be for the cool factor.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
While I had the seat and the vent window frame in I put the thermometer on the mirror arm with the mirror just to see if when I sit down I can see it clearly and I can. I was worried the division bar would be in the way. Here are some pictures. I will put a black decal on the end of the lens so it does not shine into the mirror head. the housing would be black, not chrome, to match the mirror arm. obviously the tape will be removed if I decide to use this and it will be mounted with a screw.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Here is the 66 impala telescopic wheel installed. This moved the rim of the wheel back to 9 3/4" from the gauges and I can move it out to 13". that is a nice range.

Thanks to photoshop here's the interior with the tele wheel. I like the 2 tone wheel but will probably keep it all 1 color.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Hey Rod, I looked at your door panels and have an idea for your switchs how they are mounted. we will have to talk in the near future to discuss it.
