Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb big block on Air!

Got the roof almost finished but darkness set in. Found some other spots lower on the driprail to patch so I took care of those as well. It's now solidly welded and ready for me to transport back to my house. I will do the frame work/suspension/air ride/brakes there and get it running and driving. Then will put all the new sheetmetal on and drive it back to the body shop for final fitment and body work and then paint.

Are you putting a performance Cam in it also?
It's got a mild cam in it already. The po sent me the paperwork by mail and they were lost but I think I have the specs somewhere...

I haven't read the entire thread but I think this body style looks great with a shortened rear end and super deep rear wheels 10-12" wide. If you going to lay it down low might as well get some hardcore wheels.
Plan is for 8- 8.5" front and 10" rear wheels pending what we can find...

Thanks, progress will be better once I have it home...been a mixed blessing at the shop....great access to tools and free storage are awesome...but the distance from home and lack of access and no work in the rain really hurts progress....

Still needs some more grinding but it's getting there, solid, and rust is gone

Nice work, you gonna run stock suspension with bags in place of coils?

Thanks!

Yes, bags will mount on the trailing arms in place of the coil springs at the rear and on cups in the lower control arms in the front. I'll be adding 2" blocks in the rear and 2 1/2" drop spindles in the front also. And a c-notch, super trac bar, shock relocators, sway bars, new shocks, new tie rods, ball joints, etc...

Awesome I will deffineltly be following your build. You think you'll be able to air out without your diff hitting the bed? I'm also planning a big block in my 67 so I'm gonna gave to pay attention

There is a small bump stop in the center of the cnotch to prevent metal to metal contact there....my plan is to dump the bags slowly and see if that bumpstop will keep the diff from hitting the bedfloor....if it is too close or hitting, I will install a taller bumpstop. I am putting bag "hats" on the top of the bags so I don't think that will be an issue....

Nice keep us updated. I'm clods to scrapin my coils and putting bags in place I just don't want to have to cut into my bed floor. I'm runnin 4.5/7 static drop now but I just can't get bags out of my head

The Mar-K moldings are very nicely packaged and look nice and the clips look a lot better than the others I have seen....and they're Made in the USA!

It's a long way from done I've been traveling a lot and am going to bring the truck to the house to continue to work on it. With the new booth at the body shop, when I open the doors to get tools it drops the temp too low. I need to get the shop truck out of the garage first so it'll be a couple weeks then things will start up again
