Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Thanks to my good friend Jon (1963c-10) and his sharp eyes I'm am a proud owner of a 1963 shortbed fleetside. Looks like I'll have a new parts getter for the K10!!
Should have it street legal and on the road this week. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the linkage in for the tcase. Going to order my fuel system stuff and bumper brackets for the front clip so I can get that bolted down so I can pull off the bed. Once the bed is off I'll prep the frame and paint it/replace the bed brackets which are riveted in and get my fuel system taken care of. Lots of work ahead of me. Main thing is to focus on the k10 and what's needed on the fleetside c10 to get it legal. I have to be careful now because I've got 3 trucks and a turbo motor. Don't want to get to crazy and try to do all at once otherwise nothing will be finished.

Wow, your '63 looks pretty good. Good luck with it. I just bought a '77 Chevy K5 Blazer, so I know what you mean on getting it going and all that. Anyway, thanks for sharing pictures of your new truck.

Man I'm jealous now.....grrrrrrr....I've been thinking a lot about '60-'66 trucks here lately, but honestly a lot of them have been way out of my budget, but that's ok too. Cool truck.!

This was a freak occurrence. It started when I was contemplating on buying a 64 impala 4 door and Jon turned me onto this. 2 days later I had a handshake and a title. I'll be hitting it with some CLR later today and try to bring some paint back.

Me too. I'm going to hit it with CLR tonight and try to give it a nice sunburnt look.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Even with the new to me 63 i can't wait to get the k10 up and moving. Weather permitting I should be able to get the front clip back on it. Still have minor plumbing on the engine/surrounding components to do along with that clearance issue on the oil pan but I can work around the front clip being on. Still waiting on the harness from my buddy. Had to order a few connectors so he should have it done soon. Once the bed is freed up I can remove it to do my fuel system/frame prep.
Motivational picture for myself. These days of heavy mud are long gone for this truck... well maybe in a controlled environment will I go again. NO MORE TRAILS haha.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Went to go install the front end tonight. I stepped back after mounting the radiator support and my OCD kicked in... cleaned a bunch of parts and hopefully tomorrow I'll have enough time to paint and mount everything back on the front end.
I forgot what the bed looked like. Everything in the corner drying waiting for tomorrow.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Got the front clip back on. A couple of my buddies were concerned about me reassembling the front end. I've never done an ounce of body work in my life but it came out okay in my opinion.... All lines match up except the driver side fender but I think Itll be okay.
NOS horn button installed. I think it made a big difference. Radiator support painted. I apologize for the poor quality pictures... Lighting was absolutely terrible because of rainy weather. Drivers side fender Pass fender Solid clearance and the lines match up Terrible clearance and lines dont match up. Grill, cowl, and headlight installed Dad helped me get the hood on. Lines up pretty well. Drivers side. Back together I havent instaled the bumper yet. the one I have is all bent and mutilated so I will be ordering new brackets and another bumper. That engine looks right at home in there!

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Doesn't seem funny that you can make all kinds of progress and get so much work done but nothing looks like progress more than putting fenders and a hood back on.
Truck is coming together pretty good. Don 't do what I did and get it running but not completly put back together and start driving it. I am enjoying using my truck but have lost motovation on finishing it.

When my girlfriend saw it yesterday after I put the front end back on it was like she couldn't believe it was the same truck. Funny how a little bit of work and paint can do to something.

Nothing to report lately. I have been soaking up the rays in Puerto Rico. It's a "workcation" kind of deal with the Army. Been working hard and playing harder.
Finally after a couple weeks my buddy and I caught a wild iguana... those suckers are quick!

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Watch out for their tails. They'll get you. They like to whip them around. Friend of mine had one and that thing would slap you with it's tail. I've seen several nice cuts from them. Seems sort of funny though. You would think a creature like that would be fast. But they can move.
Truck looks good with frontend on. It's been awhile since I checked in but it is nice to see it together again!

Nice! Any pictures of the clearance of the motor? I'm going to pull mine one last time. If I can't get the motor spaced up a little then I'll be notching the frame..

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Not much to report this weekend. Been sick ever since I got back from PR and Friday until today was the worst of it. Decided it was time for the K10 to get some fresh air so I pulled her out today. Man is she heavy trying to push her around. Got some good looks and nods from the neighbors too.
Driver side tire kept going flat over the course of a week. Sprayed some glass cleaner on it and you can see where the air is coming out of the side wall.. I'll deal with it the next weekend I'm in town.

Harness is complete I just need to pick it up sometime soon. Been working 50 hour weeks, running the line at civilian shooting competitions, drill, side jobs, etc. My brother is coming back home soon so I know when he gets back hell pressure me into ordering more parts. Just bought a Cornwell tool cart, snap on 3/8 air impact, matco swivels, snap on ratchets/breaker bars... etc. Got tired of breaking craftsman tools and I need the storage space. Next box I get will be a long box. Tired of tripping over tools while working on the truck.

Already do. And I love the Cornwell box. Saves me from having to walk all the way to my stationary box. I'm getting spoiled

I've got the same impact in camo. I love it and use it daily. Keep it oiled daily. The forward/reverse likes to bind up easily.
