Re: Bad Idea

Don't know if you're interested but several years ago when I bought my truck this goofball had welded up the key holes on the doors! The truck,a 69 c10,had a really nice paint job on it but I really wanted to my doors to lock.So I got to looking on the internet to see if anyone made a remote door lock for these trucks and found this place called Klassic Keyless and he makes a power door locks for my truck and a lot of others. So I purchased one from him and very easy install, good quality, has remote with kit and your park lights and tail lights blink when you lock and unlock doors.Had mine installed 2 years ago and no problem to date, saved me a lot of money.Just thought I'd pass this on to you,you may already know.

Annnnnddd….well piss we got some issues. I know people pull these out of wrecking yards all over the place all the time and nothing ever happens. I just can’t pull an engine/tranny without checking for some hidden **** like this.
Now I have to try and keep this simple without going overboard.

Re: Bad Idea

I generally go by the "driveway engineer's" slogan. The engine was running when the truck was wrecked.....you don't need to open it up.

That said one of my LS swaps probably has cam bearings that look worse than that. Oil pressure runs 15-30 psi. But it runs great and doesn't knock, so I still drive it. I did change to 20w50 motor oil at last change....lol.

Re: Bad Idea

When it’s done and I put it all back together at least I’ll know that nothing is wrong in there. So off to the machine shop and start gathering some parts.

Re: Bad Idea

I noticed LS motors seem to be hard on cam bearings.
These can be replaced with the crank installed as I have changed them. Unsure if you could get to them with the pistons and rods installed.
Cylinder walls look excellent.
Have fun, is my motto.

Rod bearings seemed just normal. Will change pistons.

Crank looks just the same old normal. Mains looked just as good.
This simple swap has now become a do it right the first time deal. Ohwell, least I know now it’ll be right.

Re: Bad Idea

Your motor looks great. Should have a great runner there.

I cleaned up my pistons with an ultrasonic cleaner and soap.
They turned out excellent.

I also included a picture of my cam bearing. Looks much worse than yours.
