Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

That's cool, I'm pretty much in the same situation. My truck is very mechanically sound, but has many external issues that need to be fixed. Will it be a father son project?

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Okay, that's what I'm doing too. What I meant was is your dad helping you with knowledge and skills? My truck is a learning experience for both my dad and me. We don't have much experience in working on cars or trucks.

Are you going to keep it stock, or make it custom?

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Yeah my dad is helping me with knowledge and skills, he owns 4 other classic cars/trucks, so he has experience. My plans are to make it custom, a truck that can be my daily driver and also be able to take to the drag strips once in a while.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

I feel mostly the same way. I want to make the exterior look nice, lower it a bit, but mostly keep it stock. However [insert insane laugh here] I want it to perform like a beast.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Exactly, Drop it a couple of inches, are you gonna put a sound system in your truck? im wondering of where to put speakers other than on the doors, because the gas tank is behind the bench seat.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

I want to put a sound system in, with a stock-like fit. You can buy a cool headliner that has speakers built into it. Also, you can put them under the seat, maybe in the glove box? How much are you going to lower it? Do you have a ratio?

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Yeah i seen the headliner, but i heard the speakers on it arent so good. Yeah under the seat might be a good spot, i dont have a ratio yet, i want it to look good but not dropped enough to grind on the floor or bumps.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

I find that four inches in the front and six inches in the back looks about right.

Maybe if you move the gas tank behind the rear axle, you could put speakers behind the seat. It would definitely remove the terrible gas smell in the cab.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

So you're truck has three gas tanks? Are you planning to do a frame off restoration? If so, I'd tank the other two tanks off of the frame. The whole point of having more than one gas tank was to extend the amount of time that could be traveled without filling up. If this truck won't be a work truck, then three gas tanks is impractical.

Is your 350 small block or big block?

What options did you truck come with?

Cool combo. The next car I do will be a 1934ish Chevy Standard 2 Door Coach. I really like the old '30s Chevys.
