Re: What did you do to your truck today?
put my dash together today...gonna change the steering wheel to a 63 corvair wheel that i found...prolly gonna shorten the column four inches this month but this is a pic of progress so far...
the 8 track i have is pretty cool but i really want an oem radio and i'm gonna have to patch the dash to put it in there. this is more or less a temporary fix.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Vernski,
Here's my '61 truck as it stands now....Gonna remove the paint ultimately and spray some flat blue that I've seen on other trucks on this forum, rust zero "safety blue"..... I was going to start on the removal of the front clip but dont have room to store it while waiting for my "new" frame to come('62 gmc) Tell me what you think....Oh by the way I want to drop it like you did your's Thanks el_bole P.S. Notice the chop on the rear, frame was shortened to customize rear...thats why my bud says I need a "new" frame |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That truck has tons of potential with the shortened long bed. Are you taking it back to stock?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Yeah I see the plates 7B is Bonner county and the next county north of us enjoy the spuds. The sheet metal on your truck looks straight so that's a plus. I got the 3" dropped coil from DJM they have the same spring rate as the stock springs and I can't tell much difference from the stock one just sits 3" lower. Do you have coils on the rear? There is a variety ways to lower the rear, one is Jeep coils another is trailing arm blocks. You can google for DJM online and look over what they sell for your truck...Vernski

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I worked at Naval air station North Island as teen for a summer....
Yes I am blessed to live here, one of the rare few who are born and raised here. Yup good beer down town.... A couple times I dont remember how I got home coming from there What kind of paint did you use on your stepside? Is it just primer? Im thinking of painting mine "safety blue(by zero rust) and painting the top half of cab cadillac escalade blue(kinda of metallic)... Going to hit the hay because I got to face a class full of know it all teens in the AM....Wish I use a baton like an MP to at least threaten them ,just joking..... el_bole |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Me a wire brush and my grinder dug into the floor boards. Got my work cut out for me. Some one put some patchs in. They just didn't bother with cutting the old floor out first. Ill start a build thread in a few days, just for kicks.

Cutting up bed
Took the grinder AKA metal cutter to the rear of my custom bed to remove the caddy tail lights.... Harder than I expected but got one off at least.... Plans are to either put them on a reg. fleetside bed vertically(the way the should be IMO) or to put them on my SB step side bed.....fenders or right by tail gate IDK..... Great work everyone, el_bole |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished my front bumper project today. Came out much nicer than I had hoped. Still a lot of imperfections in the metal from all of the cancer that was in it, but from 5 feet it looks awesome. The whole truck is going to be a rattle can job while I am doing all of the body work anyhow, so I am more than happy with it for now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Vernsky,
I was ripping up my carpet in my truck today and I decided to glance back and I check out some small plaques that the previous owner put on the back of inside wall of cab...there are mostly from events that took place in Standpoint Idaho. Wonder if they still host car shows there, you ever been? Cheers el_bole |

Don't sweat it my typing skills are not the best either. PM sent on address, hey it rides the same as the stock springs just 3" lower. I was thinking some day when the money tree permits getting 2 1/2" dropped spindles[just thinking]more thing important right now...Vernski

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I decided to swap the engine out of ol'blue.. So that ment I had to remove truck #1 (the green one) from the main garage and move it to the rear garage ... Sounds simple right ? well first I had to remove the acumulated junk from around it since I had lost interest in it bout a year ago .. then removed all the junk from the rear of it and proceeded to rearrange all the body panels and place them in the back in an organized way .. next I had to hang a temporary gas tank off the inner fender , (since it is missing the fenders and doors , seat and gas tank ..replace the distributor I robbed for truck #1 and it fired right up and I drove it to the rear garage ... Now I have a days worth of cleaning before I can start tomorrows project ...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That is always a good thing when they roar to life after sitting for a while. I have decided to build a new motor for my truck. I have never built my own motor and I have no idea what I want (except 400hp), so we'll see how it goes. Pray for me, everyone!
