Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Put the driver door back on to check the alignment. Not perfect but good enough for me. Put on the passenger fender and it over lapped the bottom of the door by 1/2". Loosened up the radiator support and inner fender to firewall, gave it a good tug and got all but 1/8" out. Fiddled with it for another hour and could get it where in needs to be, but it "pops" back. I remember straightening up some of the front sheet metal from a previous accident and think I may have "fixed" the previous body guys solutions. Will look at the old demo pictures and see if I can come with a clue. Also need to get the hood on so I don't spend a bunch of time on the fenders and doors only to find the hood won't fit.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Big brown truck delivered all my green glass for the 50.
Took the parking brakes apart and cleaned everything.
Ran the Lokar lines up in cab and hooked up the floor brake handle.
Looking to find a place to put my spare tire.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Wrestled with the fender/door again. Closer but still having to force it into place which is not good, first bump and everything will shift. think I am going to have to loosen the cab bolts and push the cab back a little as radiator brace and associated metal hung off of it are not moving any more forward. Good news is dog got his second set of stitches out today...

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I finally ripped routed stained and sealed my bed. I was able to install it yesterday might be a little to nice for the truck but in time it will blend right in. Still need to counter sink the off set washers and deal with two carriage bolts.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I finally gor my Luggage Rack from ClassicRacks.com mounted to my '52 Panel (with. '54 front end). Michael did a great job. I ended up bolting it to the roof due to the extremely small roof rails. I had concerns even after fabricating some thicker, perfect fitting Stainless brackets, with it coming loose going down the road. I'd hate to cause an accident, damage and lose it, or have it easily stolen.

That truck looks great. Do you ever bring it up to any of the events around Atl?

Thank you. I used yellow pine from Lowe's natural cherry stain a torch to highlight some of the grain. Then finished it off with some Australian timber oil.

Digging it out of the corner to start working on it. Plans have changed over the years. Will be going the slammed route instead of monster truck.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Finally got the passenger side fender - door' cowl gap right, what a wrestling match. Porta power and application of various body tools to relieve the tension so it would settle into place. Now back to final body work and blocking on the fenders and bed sides. More photos in the build thread.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after a long time sittin' indoors i decided to finally get to rebuild a 350 chevy motor i have had for some years , i seem to remember it only had 27;000 miles '
well after takin it apart i saw that the crank had some scoring - rod bearings were not worn evenly and the lifters had very small pits in them - so much for a '' gasket and reseal rebuild .
so i guess my new song of the day is ; ''HI HO HI HO mo money in the motor we go ''
well at least the block aint cracked like my head is

'' that;s the way it is ''

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Thanks for taking the teasing Jim. You're a good guy.

Orrie, those gaps look great. The part that would bug me? After it's done no one other than someone who has done it themselves will know how much effort it takes to get 50-60 year old sheet metal to fit together that well. Oh well, YOU'LL know.
