I've never had a clean workbench for more than a day. Just like my underwear.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Thanks for the kuddos guys, but we all know in a shop cleanliness is temporary ha!

Still more work to do though. I got that cool metal pegboard leftover from a work project. I had four outlets and hardwire for my laptop before. I eliminated two outlets and the computer. Wi-Fi works just fine. Do t need four outlets on an Eight foot bench. But I did add that extra piece that has swivel outlets and usb charging

Paul those are just copies of covers. I sort of decoupaged them to the wall with watered down Elmer’s glue … worked great.

Great idea. But still don't invite me to play darts. People scatter when I pick darts up. I can hit everything but the dart board.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Actually my workbench has been good and clear (almost) since I put it back in the barn after moving it. Come to think of it, I haven't really done anything on the workbench to create a mess. That should explain that!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Today I took My Jaguar in to smog it and get some things done. This isn't going to be pretty. So I am sitting here waiting to assume the position for when the bill comes.

Getting new tires. I got a good deal on some sweet original rims. I'm losing the wide wheels on it. I don't like how they ride and I just don't like them. Brakes and alignment and a new grille. The one on it looks weird. I got an original chrome one. So it "should' ride better, look more of how a Jag should look IMHO and have license plates on it finally.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Finally unloaded the pics off my good camera, but all the cleaning paid off, the 2 cars looked good in the Portland Roadster Show. The custom is a hall of fame car so was just on display, but always fun talking to people trying to figure out all the modifications. The Camaro was right at home in my Camaro Clubs display. Car ended up coming home with a 2nd place in Restored 61-69. Pretty good for a 15 year old restoration and lots of miles on it at this point.

In the 70's today and a sunny day . I'm going to cut the grass for the first time this year . It's time for a new mower Yhe one I have now has seen better days but it's always a challenge to see if it makes it through 1 more year ...

Cutting the grass is one of those chores you know you have to do but in the end your happy it's done until next week ! , Just like block sanding , The never ending block sanding .

Congratulations on both. They look fantastic. For me it's easy to spot all the custom touches on your '58

Mowing grass doesn't bother me because it feels good keeping the place up. It does suck that once the weather starts getting nice and the days long, and you feel like you'll be getting so much more done, it hits me that one evening a week will be tied up with this chore that doesn't exist all winter. I'll wait at least till Easter. I still have early flowers that come up in the grass that haven't flowered out yet. I mow around them the first month. Once they're done flowering a while I'll mow over them

What I did since Thursday is set up at a local swap meet Thursday, sell stuff a couple days, and pack up at 2 today. I have never set up at this one. Only go to buy usually. Just one 10 x 10 space. This place is 15 minute from home, very convenient. I was on an end row, so I had chairs against the wall across the aisle and today I had friends stop and hang out while I tended from afar. I had a great time!

First picture is early this morning from one corner. My space is second one down on the outside

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Just came in from my "March Auto Madness". Did LOF & tire rotation on the Montero (stupid skid plates). LOF & tire rotation on the '70 (so easy). Did LOF, air filter, tire rotation on the Tahoe. By the time I got to the tires on the Tahoe, I was pretty wore out. Used the old shovel lifting trick to lift them up. Tomorrow I've got the tractor and the lifesaving Generac to do. I'm feeling old fellas.

That's a lot of work. I'm feeling tired and sore from standing around on a concrete floor at the swap meet, and loading up that hood. Tired might have something to do with having sleep issues lately.

Yes

Those Swap meets will wear an old man down

I only do one a year as far as set up goes.

I probably walk 50 miles looking to see what is there before the public arrives

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I drove through Burger King today and got 2 "Classic Melts. I had been running errands all morning and I was starving. I just wanted something fast because I wanted to go home and eat quick.

So I order them with extra 1000 Island dressing... They're out of 1000 Island.
Fine... I have Bobs at home Ill just slap some on.

I get to the window and ask for Ketchup... They're out of Ketchup too.

How does Burger King run out of Ketchup? They're right next to Vons and I was just there. Vons had plenty of Ketchup and 1000 Island. So I say whatever, I've got Ketchup at home too.

I get home and the "Melts' aren't melted at all. The bread isn't even grilled. It looked like it just came out of the package.

So I got dry burgers with cold cheese. Not like the pretty picture in the window.

So much for a fast bite. I waited in the drive thru for 10 minutes and I was the only car there and had to fire up my grille and "fix ' the burgers when I got home.

Oh man. That sounds like some of my recent experiences with fast food here. A while back I stopped at a Sonic for a fast burger. I asked for a regular cheeseburger with mustard and ketchup only. When delivered I drove off as I was short on time. When I opened it and took a bite I found a bun, mustard and ketchup. No cheese or MEAT! I kid you not.
Just a day ago I stopped at Wendy's and ordered a baked potato and burger. When he handed me my order it felt lite so I peeked in and there was a
burger, no potato. I asked where's my tater. The girl said she didn't hear me ask for one. I said that's the very first thing I asked for. "oh, sorry" as she quickly turned away. The guy quickly got me fixed up but man. They weren't rushed as I was the only one at the driveup. It's the same old same old now days. Ask for corndogs and get just that, you have to ask for mustard and napkins.

I don't eat at drive-thru burger p[laces, except maybe when traveling and time is tight. If I was going to take a drive-thru burger home before eating, I'd drive on by, get home sooner, and slap a delicious sandwich together real quick. My kitchen stays fully stocked with delicious foods. I'm never out of condiments. My 92 year old mom says she's never seen anyone keep so many condiments. I told her that's because I don't know how to cook and I use condiments to make food edible

Sounds like you know how to cook to me. Quality ingredients and spice are all it takes. When I was a kid we had salt and pepper. That was it. No wonder my moms food was so bland and not so good.

Fast food is for what it is. Good in a pinch. Or maybe not...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Replaced a carb and all filters and oil on a Kohler engines zero turn....

Found a persistent leak on one of my Toro Z masters and replaced the hydraulic feed hose.

Drained gas from our snow blower and ran it dry until next season....(yep, I have a snow blower in NC!)

Changed oil and filterson my John Deere LA145....over 1000 hours on the original engine!

Pulled the carb from a Toro Self propelled 22" mower..I found it out front of a place with a sign saying Free...carb was all gummed up, a bath in acetone then carb cleaner and reassemble...fires right up now....

Now I am sitting on my a$$ watching NASCAR with a beer....

Its a hard life aint it?

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

(2) recent experiences in the past week had me saying "What the Hell?"

Went to a Red Robin Friday for The Queen and I to split one of their thick juicy bacon cheeseburgers and endless steak fries. I understood the long wait for grub as the place was packed and understaffed...like most food joints these days.

The burger wasn't thick, or juicy. But, the steak fries held up to standards.

Went to a Chiloso earlier last week after our oldest Grandson's high school soccer game. I always get a burrito bowl. If you're not familiar, you move down the line selecting the ingredients you want. The 1st item is the meat. I picked taco meat. The server put such a small amount of meat in the bowl I had him ad more and it still wasn't as much as they always did before. That's comparing two locations. To top it off, The Queen really likes their Chicken Tortilla soup...sub-par this go round.

We don't have a nearby Burger King but, I found myself at one a couple of weeks ago. Its been a couple of years, I think. I was disappointed to find the Whopper seems to have lost its Whop. Nothing special and looked to be smaller than I remembered.

Wendy's prices are WAY up but, the items don't seem to have changed much. So, locally, I would have to say for fast food burgers...Our Texas based What a Burger is still the best.

I seldom go thru the drive thru. Even if I am taking food to the house or office. It has been my experience that your chance of getting a correct order greatly improves when ordering inside. The exception is Chick Fil-A. Their orders and service is always top shelf.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

After the big rains Friday night, I had loaded up some stuff in the truck to sell at the Beacon dragway spring swap meet. Lots of leftover parts and junk that I will never use. Some things I didn't remember having. Got there early with a fair turnout and sold everything by 10 am except for 3 items. The wind was whipping and it was a cool wind. Glad to get home. Worked on the camaro console a little bit. Got it looking ok.

Swap meet, ey? I mentioned earlier I did the same here. We had rain Thursday through Saturday. But I was inside. I did pretty good selling and I got a couple cool things, too. Your console picture reminded me I wanted to show this knee knocker VDO tach I got for my '67 project. I never saw a tach with a cup that looked like this. The ribbed design will go with the wing vent latches and interior mirror ('66 style).
