Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

Here is a link to my 66 gmc, it starts showing it in the shop, as it progresses it shows the current rebuild that is going on. I also have a 65 chevy out in the yard, but have not started on it yet. Kieth

On December 16 2010 after leaving my girlfriends dads funeral service I saw this truck looks like it had a little front end damage

New kid on the block..

I always liked the look of most old trucks, but especially the 60-66 chevys. So I bought this 64 back in october off ebay for $3200. Having seen it only online. Won't do that again! but I think I did ok. This is my first old truck. I wanted something I could drive daily to my job and work on as I could come up with $ and time. It has some issues, but nothing too major that I've found yet. Still trying to figure out what size L6 engine I have. Been reading other posts for info. For now I'm enjoying driving something with great lines & history and seeing what the other chevy truck freaks are doing with theirs.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

Nice truck yellowdog. If the engine is stock, it's most likely a 230. Only way of really knowing though is running the casting numbers. This might help.

Welcome yellowdog.

I kinda like what they did there with the grill.
I'm guessing it's painted silver, but at first glance I thought you had the rare aluminum grill

What makes the aluminum grill rare?

Re: engine id

Thanks guys. And your right LostMy65, the grill is painted silver. I don't know if the engine is original but I suspect it is a 230, but I'd like to know for sure. I still can't find those dang casting #s. I found the stamped #s behind the distributor, but they don't tell me much (FO827A). I've searched the drivers side and I can't find anything on the engine block where its joined to the tranny. Here's some pics if anyone has some info, I could use the help.
