Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
thanks flips for the comment im going to order those valve covers like yours with the red and blue on them!
i did order my 8qt. oil pan, deep trans pan, timing cover, and lokar dip sticks! they will all be here sometime between this thursday and tuesday! after i get my high volume oil pump then i will pull the motor out and get the bottom half of the bolt-ons on! then i'll order the other half to finish with the motor! im trying to buy as much stuff as the wife will let me buy since im getting all this overtime in, i got 7 more weeks of working 6 days, then we go back to working 5 days i think, lol! my dad works at the same place but different shift and he works 4-5 days a week and works the same amount of hours, but i get paid more, lol!! i'll post pics when i get the stuff, i look into getting some custom seat covers and they would cost as much to have them recovered! (i did get a driver door skin, that i'm going to use on my passenger side from a forum member "nobby", thanks again for that!!)

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
well its been over two weeks since i posted anything! i have been busy with work and the family, and since i have been working 6 days aweek the one day i have off the wife wants to go do stuff as a family, some of you guys know how it is!! any ways i have been buying parts for the truck a lot more engine parts then anything else but thats because i want to get that taking care of! then buy the wiring harness and hear it run for the first time in awhile!!
i bought a 7qt. oil pan and gasket, matching pickup tube, deep trans pan and gasket, proform valve covers, hold down tabs, hold down bolts, two breathers, timing cover, high volume oil pump, hardened oil pump shaft, and a tailgate from a forum member!! anyways on to the pictures right, lol!!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
I was looking at that same set up on ebay Chad, with the valve covers and timing chain cover that matched. It is going to look sweet once you get some time to get it all on there !!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
thanks dino for checking out my build and commenting means alot coming from you!!
mcmurphy, i did order them from ebay but not as a set, and not from the same person! roush yates had the valve covers and i think he only has one set left from like 205, and then i ordered the timing cover from a guy and got it for 25 shipped! the oil pan was chevy orange and i scuffed it up with 60 grit and 120 then but some duplicolor cast coat aluminum on it still has some scuff marks but will take care of them and then clear coat it so it really will match the valve covers! right now it looks dull compared to the valve covers and timing cover!! i'm hoping to paint my alternator case, steering pump, air gap intake and water pump cast iron this next weekend, but i have to wait for them to come in first! should start to get some of the parts tomorrow but its suppost to rain lightly for three days too! so i think i'll just wait til this weekend!! i added an 8'x8' deck and awning on to our 8'x8' deck we had so the wife can tan, lol! so i didnt order my wiring harness this month, looks like i'll get it next month! had to make the wife happy so i can buy more parts, lol!!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
mcmurphy, if you end up getting the valve covers and timing cover like mine and want to paint anything to match it! get rustoleum cast coat aluminum, its a better match with a pigment/ metallic look that looks really really close to the valve covers! its a better match then the duplicolor, in my opinion!!
i just repainted the oil pan with rustoleum cast coat aluminum, and i painted the alternator cast iron then clear coated the alternator, looks good to me! i'll post pictures later, going to let it dry a lil while i eat lunch!!

well no progress on the truck lately! found out that i'll be working 7 days aweek starting today, and i dont know when we will go back to just working 5 days aweek! a buddy of mine that works there said they do this every summer and it will last atleast 2-2 1/2 months! but the good news is thats just more money that will go into the truck in a shorter period of time, lol!! i havent told the wife yet, i just got home and she's asleep still!!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70
Good to hear the Co. is busy, need to hear more of that from the beleaguered US of A. All of you guys have had a rough go the last few years. We have been pretty fortunate up here in the land of hockey and plaid dinner jackets. A tough go in late 08 to mid 09 up here, but a pretty good economy outside of that. I won't buy a foreign car again myself, we have to do what we can to help each other.

Very nice assortment of parts you're collecting. I really like the valve and timing covers. 7 days a week is rough, but a good problem to have in this economy.
