Had new power steering lines made today, worked out good as they are much shorter and out of the way now.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Had a new brake splitter made by Gregg's in Edmonton, this is a stainless steel braided line that is covered with red something or other to meet DOT laws...
But Gregg's can build a whole brake line system for you without joints in some spots where my 'LMC Stainless Steel line kit' has joints...plus this stuff can come with brackets to hold it's shape around multiple corners & angles....next project I'm going to use this stuff for sure because I hate hard lines!

[QUOTE=Gordonr1973;4688725]The firewall is good.
It was parked nose down for a year or two on a very steep driveway before I bought it so I think thats why there was lots of rust due to a leaky windshield. Anyways, things are a bit different up here as most cabs are going to be rusty to some degree --- rust-free 30 year old anything is hard to find!! thats 100% true man, if u wanna c how bad a canadian truck like urs can get< have a look at mine sometime http://www.cardomain.com/ride/320043...00-regular-cab |

Found a place on a web search that fabs replacement cabs and body panels for all the classic Chevy trucks, in fiberglass. At around $5000 US. You have to pick it up, they won't ship it period. My pockets ain't that deep.
Then again anyone with a MIG rig, BFH and patience can fix anything. It's a little rusty, so what? |

It's about $7 / foot plus ends plus labor...I will have some pics over the weekend as my current hardlines did not match up with the new brake booster so I had them do new lines up to the rear axle...might change those as well. Quote:

Thanks everyone one else for checking in...been busy with work and trying to find replacement connectors for the ones that pulled off the PSI harness...not too happy with their customer service so I will be using Hayes Performance for the wiring on my next project.

Gordon,
Whats the cost of that brake line /foot and do you remember what its call. Just so i don't sound like a retard when i walk in haha So its basically just SS braided line they can cut to custom length and put ends on?

truck looks great, but unhappy with PSI? I thought all their harnesses were brand new, and only heard good things about them. If you don't mind me asking what was the problem? I'm assuming something with the connectors?

I had 2 fuel injector connectors pull off the harness, I emailed & called Jon on Dec 6th & he promised to send two replacements...they never showed up, I emailed again on January 11th asking him to FedEx them and I would pay the FedEx charges, he said sure but I never received them either....I sent him another email this week saying I found two connectors locally (cost me $75 for two!!!) and he replies with an email sounding like he's all for customer service etc etc....and asking what he can do to make this right....Well, all I really ever wanted was the two pigtails that pulled off. He promised to send them and he never did...so if I drop a LS motor into my Firebird this fall, I'm buying a harness elsewhere. Period. Hopefully the harnesses you bought were actually made to fit a C10 b/c mine was off.

They are really nice in there so ask any questions you want....just take in samples of your connectors so they can put ends on that will match your system where ever you are connecting to. It was $7 / foot plus ends plus labour to do it up.

Here's a not so great pic of the excess wires that are folded up to keep them off the headers:

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
And here's a pic of the CPP brake booster that I got with my brakes, nice unit but in NO WAY is a straight bolt-on...I have to try to figure out a way to make it work...I made the black brackets behind the booster tabs that would normally bolt to the cab front. I thought that would work but the rest of the bolts are no too short to bolt the thing to the cab.
I looked up the part number and it is a booster actually made to fit 65-67 Chev trucks?? Funny thing is when you select the part to fit a 73-87 chev truck, CPP 's website just sent me to the same booster that I was sent.... I don't know what to think about that one!! That's the kind of day I'm having...

did you call cpp about it? may be something they can fix up for you, unless it is supposed to be the same booster... and... i dunno. cant see that being the case though.
aside from that everything looks good. |

The booster definitely looks different from the ones that go on those years of trucks.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Yeah guys, I'm going to have to check on this because I tried to fab up new brackets today to get it to stay on and the whole booster is tipped to the front.
I don't see how this could be correct for this truck unless they could provide different brackets to bolt onto the rear of the unit (b/c the curent rear bracket on it just bolts on) and that might do the trick...if I have to I will build my own brackets to do this but I will need a week to do it....more delays :-(

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
It's going slow....just got home from overseas so was back at it this weekend.
More wiring, and more and more. And got my brake lines fabbed up & installed. Actually, getting close to be able to test start the truck...probably within a week or 10 days if I get a chance at night to work on it. Because the Painless harness wires were SO LONG in the engine compartment (they were almost 2 times the length of the truck), I just connected them pretty much as is for the test-fire and once the engine runs good, I will trim the wires to fit where ever I run them for length so it will be a lot neater later on, with loom as well. I can't say how much I hate the Painless kit when connecting it into the LS harness...won't be buying any more of their products after this build.
